had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.
I have the same ARB awning and it performed excellently over our 34,000km trip which included amongst other 4wd tracks the Simpson, the PP GTG , Gibb River Road, Cape Leveque, Binns Track, Savannah Way and many days on beaches and trails on day trips. We had zero trouble with ours and we have exactly the same right angle bracket securing it to our rhino bars.
I have two tips for you. The first is for windy conditions. As per the warnings on the awning, utilise use the two tie down ropes but also make sure you drive a tent peg through the loop at the bottom of each vertical pole. This stops the poles lifting and "walking" in towards your car hence slacking off the awning.
The second tip is to make sure a ham fisted boof does not pull too tightly on the velcro fastener when the awning is being secured after rolling it up. The stitching can give way leaving you with just two velcro straps instead of three. Easy fix though so no real probs. The ham fisted boof is still living it down.
My bride and I can get the awning up or down (less tie downs) in under 90 seconds. We therefore tended to use it all the time even for very short lunch or mornos stops. I would rate this item as the best accessory (after the Engel) we have on our Prado. During our 7 month trip we demonstrated over 20 times to other travellers who spotted our awning how easy it was to put up and down. I should claim commission from ARB. Also if you travel with another vehicle who has the same awning you can face opposite directions and butt the awnings together giving a very large area sheltered by the vehicles on two sides.
Enjoy your awning - we love ours
