It all started for us in October 08. We had been on a weeks holiday in the old wagon (A Kia Carnival) we had traveled around Margret River along a few dusty trails through the trees and started talking about a four wheel drive. We decided to have a look at Collie on the way home and took one firebreak to many. There is a longer story here but suffice to say the carnival got stuck. We did manage to recover it ourselves and headed home.
That experience decided it for us though, The Carnival had given us some great years but with all the camping we were doing we needed something better. We looked around a bit at what was on offer and after a bad experience with a Toyota sales man just about skipped the Prado all together. However after test driving a Path Finder we went to a different Toyota dealership and tried a Prado. Unfortunately my wife fell in love with it straight away and let the sales man know  not a good place to start negotiations from. We did however settle on a price and in mid November we got our Prado.

Petrol GXL, Pretty Naked to start with Toyota tow bar and cross bars for the Rack. This allowed us to put our pod on for trips. We also had a Garmin Nuvi, Etrex Vista, a couple of Hand Held UHF's, a 60 litre Engel, home made Battery box and a twin screen DVD player as our initial extras.
At the four wheel drive show we picked up some rhino rack stuff to allow us to put the Kayaks on.
Christmas was Great I got a recovery Kit and Pam got the Compressor, the Prado got its awning

I also built a trek table

The new year saw the most important accessory

then some headlight and the bonnet protectors

Easter is upon us and I have just mounted the Pole carrier and recovery points

I am hoping to start on the draws tomorrow. There is still a lot to add but it all takes time and money. The more we do with this wonderful vehicle though the more we know we have made the right decision. Finally a big thanks to all of you on this website for all the tips and advice. I did the recovery points my self following the guide on here, cheers to you all. It was priceless seeing my wifes face we I told her we had to unbolt the radiator and drill the chassis.
Cheers Neil
