took the missus and the sprog out for a drive tonight, and holy sh!t, do these wheels make a difference!!! well, i had the GX steelies on before, and with the weight difference, the 120 flies now. heaps better pick up and acceleration, and coasts along a fair bit longer than the GX steelies.

so, wheels can be an advantage in performance if they are lighter.

Nice tyres Steve ... shame about the rims though!

Seriously they look great ... it's amazing the difference some alloy and rubber can make. 8)

i've been meaning to get these rims since day one, but it seems there are more important mods to be done before and the rims just keep getting pushed back.

now that i have them, i just gotta wear out the new 265's, so i can get the 285's on. there's heaps of clearance to the stock UCA now. but i'm looking at getting the aftermarket UCA in the near future.

went our for a nice easy sunday drive. 1st time off road with the new wheels on. also 1st time off road and on the highway with the Steinbauer chip. great power in the whole rev range, and overtaking is now effortless to 160km/h. wicked. the heat and humidity up here kills it though, need to keep a close eye on exhaust temps.

I likey them rims!! Bit of a hard luck story in the middle there but you've progressed well since then..

I'm somehow in the same as MUMSRIG, having somehow missed this one... Just spent my night going through it all, I'm impressed... Those rims are making me jealous!!!

thanks for the comments.

i got a new first aid kit today. the original one was passed onto live in the zook.



i also got myself one of these inverters today. plan is to mount the inverter under the drivers seat. it has a remote so it won't be a hassle turning it on and off as needed. it also shows voltage of the battery its connected to.

i was originally going to do the autometer boost/egt guage combo, but after hours of sitting in the prado trying to figure out where they would go, i decided against them. if there was a moulded A pillar to house both guages like the hilux/patrol, i would've opted for that. seeing as there is not ATM, i'm going to fit a couple of digital read-out units in place. these are on order and should be here in a couple of weeks. the compact units should be easier to intergrate into the cockpit somewhere. i like the minimalistic simple un-cluttered dash, but sometimes you can't avoid it. pics to follow.

haven't done much more to the 120 lately, but a new year brings new mods.

i did get myself one of those action cams (http://www2.oregonscientific.com/cat-Ou ... amera.html)

will try and get some footage from it strapped to the rack over the xmas break.
