          • Just awesome, the top of that 33" tyre is about level with the bottom of the sill at full extension!

thanks mate. i don't think that's the best bit. anyone can fit a super long shock for heaps of droop. long shocks for big droop is normally at the expense of up travel. most of the time a bump stop spacer is needed to stop the shock from bottoming out. i haven't lost any up travel compared to when i had my 2" and 3" lifts.

plus i don't think there's much more droop to be had. the tiny upper control arms become the limiting factor. they are way too short, and the bushes are running out of 'twist'.

if i were to try and get more rear wheel travel, i would have to go a 3 link with panhard or a trangulated 4 link (no panhard), but the fuel tank gets in the way.

also having any more travel in the rear is not so practical. i would be concentrating on the front, whether it be a long arm (long travel) IFS system, or SAS. I am not a fan of SAS's as i would loose clearance under the front, and then would have to deal withbump steer. yuck.

                • How close is it to dropping a spring out or have you put some retainers in? Sorry if it is in the build I cannot remember.

at full droop, i can only rotate the coil about 10mm. it's not loose at all, still nice and tight in there.

                          • new brake bits

                            yeeeeeeeeeeeah buddy. finally some mods.

some bits turned up today for the 120, and maybe after the weekend we might actually have some braking action.

still need to sort out a couple of other things, but gotta let the wallet (credit card) recover 1st.

T3 Front rotors. you don't realise how big these things actually are until you pick one up.

some new Bendix Pads front and rear

and some hand brake shoes at long last. been 18 months with no handbrake.

i want to see how much of a difference the T3's actually make, and then i will go for some braided lines.

                            • I'm chasing some rear shoes, same boat no rear brakes. Had to order all the little inside parts from Toyota which I have now. But no one had rear shoes last time I was in Darwin.

                              • since i haven't posted anything in ages, though i would update my thread before it gets lost in the never never.

in no particular order, i changed out brake rotors and pads, but didn't quite get to doing braided lines as yet.
Changed out some front end components as part of the annual up keeping of suck an extreme beast. (not)
fitted up the diesel water filter ages ago, so should post pics of that. i know there are already pics of these in the filter thread, but i run a 3rd battery tray for the compressor so there is really not much room left. plus i didn't want to do it v8 landcruiser style on how they fit to the RH of the engine bay.

but other than that, happy aussie day.
