All fitted up and looking the part now!

Hat Saver fitted so the Akubra now has a home of its own!

Remote head for the Codan HF sitting in there nicely!

2 x GME UHF's mounted, 40 ch on top and 80 ch below.

I machined up a few cord holders from Nylon to hook the cords up when not using them, they could be distracting particularly in city driving (not that I drive in the city very often)

The 80 channel raio is a goer, ariel just arrived for the 40, so need to mount that and still a bit of work to go to get the HF up and running.

    Cheers Andrew

              • I have been working on the jig in setween a few other things. Its been giving me a fair bit of grief but worked out a few bugs yesterday, basically It all fitted perfectly in the jig but once welded it was pulling and messing up the fit. finally got a technique to counter that so hopefully get the main jig sorted soon. I haven't started on Jerry can holders, they should be pretty simple hopefully.

Also had a run on sliders in the last week so back making them ATM. And had another spanner thrown in the works today just to give me something else to do http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post406126

As for a time frame, wanted these up and running about 2 months ago but such is life

                Cheers Andrew

                • Redarc Brake controller

Finally got round to installing the Redarc Brake controller that I won at the GTG last year Mounted in the spot where I had the UHF mic mounted previous to the roof consol install. I had 2 screw holes side by side in the pop out panel so fitted the control and the indicator light side by side so I could reuse the pop out panel.

Better order the electric brakes for the trailer now!

Lots happening with the build as I get ready for the next big trip, stay tuned.

                  Cheers Andrew

No secret, 6 week trip, heading up to the Rock, back down through the APY lands, Gunbarrel hwy up to Rudall River, tour around the Pilbara, Mount Augustus, Perth and back across the Nullabour. We haven't done a trip on our own for a few years so looking forward to just the family getting out on our own.

I have been researching another trip that I want to attempt in the next few years that will make my Madigans trip look like a drive through downtown Sydney, that ones still a secret in fact it's so secret that the places to visit haven't even been mapped.

                      Cheers Andrew

                      • So with 2 x UHF's now fitted

I needed another Antenna, obvious place to mount it was on the scrub bar same as the first one but on the Drivers side, unfortunately this meant welding a mounting tab on (should have done that when I made them just in case) and of course that meant a repaint. I know I maybe could have got a clamp of some sort to mount it there, but it would not have matched the other side and would have annoyed me everytime I looked at it, so welding and a repaint it was.

                        Cheers Andrew

It's great for some workplaces where you need two, which is what wedo.

But it's also good when in convoy, one on convoy channel the other scanning.

Or open road, one on 40 the other scanning, etc.

Also means the cool kids who have them can talk behind everyone else's back.

One on ch40 for trucks etc and one on 10 or 18 for convoy/4wders.

Alternatively use for multi group setups such as GTG's etc etc etc
