imagine if they heard you can down shift the manual 6spd version, around a dirt corner with nice old grey gums... and deliberately pop it out before the corner apex and power out using about 3400- 4800rpm, of second gear v6 stock grunt... till the next corner... love this car , cheers butane

how far you pop it out is a matter of safety and respect for the beautiful old grey gums.. I'm no hoon.. just love driving this rig

for the record...

as i learn about this prado means that i'm learning it"s flaws too....

as far as... one eg. if you drive a rear wheel drive 4x4 , you come too a dead end scrub track..

you can find a gap in the trees/scrub, reverse in , , grab a gear , dump the clutch and and flick the ass around... and off ya go back too the turn off

try doing that in a prado? ... love this rig, cause i get to drive it... and compensate for the flaws ...

nothing is perfect... but this 120 is a keeper.. its only getting better... cheers butane

MT / ATZ's

finally worked out what the difference was with the mickey T's , with white letters out or not.... didn't look right to me

the white letter side is closer to the rim to protect the letterin',,



where the other has the logo closer to the outter side of the tyre.... it's all cosmetic,
but i am paying attention to every detail with my rig, going to buy at big black marking texture , first thing in the mornin;

to me it appears with the white side out, that the tyre has a lower profile... ,
so jury is in boyz ,,buying a marker tommorow, the black side letters are bigger and look better with dust, as per photo,
i've got stickers on the rig from every angle to show my tyre choice, dont want the labbeling on the tyre's to stand out toooooo..


all in the evan name of tyre wear, the sacrifices we make at 370 bucks a pop,, black side out is better for this rig

hmm.. I prefer the white

I originally went for white on the outside but have since ended up with a mix - it's the sacrifice I had to make to improve the tyre balancing results ... (no one has ever noticed though, hehe)

big day out for the RIG

time to put it to the test , off tommorrow for another run inland, 36 hour B.R.B ,trip to mates farm....
got a few differences since the prado had to haul....

power plugs, K&n air filter , new toyota spec. fuel filter,

centre console insert cooler bag , loaded with chilled bricks

air filter in for dust control in the cab. , roof c.b. installed, still chainsaw in carry case left mid.row seat, floor, 4 fold out chairs,
right side got me duffle bag with riding gear and a change of undies,

rear has 2 cartoons of longkneck on ice in one 60l , and 4 bags of ice in the other 60l, barbe plate, barbe, tool tox, 1400kg trolley jack ,cople of pillows, blanlets etc,

have about 1.6t in weight of trailer and payload behind and setting off this time with about 1 and a half tanks of shell 98.. have 250 kays of local runs on the last fuel up so far .. lets see how it goes up the pass as the V6 got the ecsort over a ford wild track...

one for the petrol heads there,

running 50 psi all round in the mickey's ATZ's for this trip,
looking forward to getting it dirty .... cheers butane

the RiG , as per expectations.. flawless

very enjoyable run again , the prado ripped the van from its old location{ tyres flat } without any issues, too easy..
the only thing learn't from this run was the mickey t's atz running 50 psi , where free rolling down the tar better but.



with the 1.6 t behind didnt like the braking push into the corners , on the dirt, issues solved by the selection of hi 4x4, and like i said before the drive line and abs seemed to like it and had no more drama's... on the tar with a few high wind area's doing the 100 k .. seemed to feel light in the front end at that 50 psi pressure...



i unloaded and took one of the boys for a spin down the dirt,to show him the Lachlain river.... no trailer/ unloaded, in hi range and confirmed the m/t's perform much better at the 43 front / 41 rear



used about 95 ltr of shell 98' , for the 500k's travelled .. and that was on the heavy throttle .....
... but trailer near empty on return run..



payed attention to the shifting of the 6 spd with the castrol lube, and like previous comment, flawless smooth shifts, clutch felt really good no complaints happy how the rig is and the V6, well goes hard and seems to love the wind out without flat boarding the pedal i know the feed on the throttle thro the dirt corners is smooth , feels like theres plenty of pedal to go before it pulls straight... if i could give you any advice it would be buy a V6 if you like to drive..6pd man. thirsty yes but very cool ,

plenty of fresh water rinsing on the lawn the sarvo,will wash it tommorrow.., still gotta fire up the compressor and blow out the dust,
from inside, but it will be easier if i un pack the prado first,

only hick up ... since unpacking it seems the fuse for the arb, fogs is blown,, have looked in both fuse boxes labelling not clear enuff..

then looked up the fuse in the manual ,
will have a look 2 morrow

pulled out the bar light insert's, tested both lights and they powered up fine in the shed.. changed out the blinkers on the bar, for some spares i had, and replaced the inserts ,

after another day , i started on the fuses again but with a test light .... hit the jack pot within 35 seconds.. the blown 10 amp fuse in the ignition fuses box was the 4th down from the top right.... it was labelled as "tail" but it was why the minny spots on the bar when out .... all good now

gave the lenses of the main headlights a hit again with the cleaner ...
and blew out the cab with the blower,,.. last of all checked tyre pressure's ...
front back at the 43 psi
rear 41 psi... back on track... blacked out the white letters again. worth the effort.

and most of all ordered some big black letter cut numbers " 41 " for xmas pressy off the missus

... x3 of each number , 4.. 1
that 'll , do me from santa, 500mm high black numbers for the bonnet , rear doors. each side
