Hi there Butane, just out of curiosity why the silastic on the trim holes ?? to stop moisture coming up from underneath ?? or more of a sealer ?? Presume you had to cut a hole in the silastic to allow your clips to be able to put the clips back in ?? Cheers Steve

hi steve , how have ya been ,, the silastic was applied prior to re - instalation of the trim/clips... it was wet when i put the clips back... just trying to stop any spray comin back up from under the vechile...
cheers mate , butane
thanks octane' ,
i think honestly ,the prado ive got is the beees knees,,, it is perfect for my usage, too date but as we get new idea's every day , it is a solid platform to set up to your requirements,
I enjoy this site because the car i own , is some what varible in, what it can do... IT IS MY toy.. i have a work truck, the missus has hers it just gets T.L.C till i feel like using it ...
no one else drives it , i choose the fuel i , run the tyre pressure's, It is my rig build up".... when i look back at the purchase photo's , i click up to now! the vechile changes every time i wash it...
but the rig is still getting better, .. thats why I'm proud to have this rig in the build up section.... sunday arvo i striped apart the intake system, up to the filter.
fullly bucket cleaend and replaced , removed the top plastic v6 cover ( 2 nuts ) degreased the engine , and full engine bay wash followed, completed with a wet full compressed air blow down too ensure i didnt leave the electricals wet.......
the V6 deserve's that ... it is a amasing feeling for a boy from the bush to have such a varibile rig......... and take it down too the local servo too spin the water off the front disc's,,, then get a compliment off a owner of a very smik set up troopy, that he been lookin to step up in comfort.......
I'm solld , on that... but he was 40 +ish , thought to him self , he'd like some comfort.......... i talked up all prado's for 10 min at a servo to a total stranger.. and passed on the fact of the web site is the ducks gutz...
as per stickers all angles. pradopoint.com , and evan tho he saw it all smik and shinny , was proud that he told me he has been watching it , dirty, towwin ,, bla bla... round town in general.. ,
today the low fuel light came on the the fuel burn is........ wait for it...... drum roll.........
using the therectical 150l , 13.41 per 100kays , 918kays of previous post and 200 of gentle around town pick-up 's
been easy on the the right foot, and got those numbers ........total of 1118 km travelled...... the K&N was evan due for a clean but when i cleaned the supply side but those numbers make me smile
The v6 run on 98 , stock motor, power plug's , K&n , tyre pressures at the 43 front , 41 rear no load ......... those numbers obtained with virtually no load . bloody happy here , cheers boys butane
Awesome build Butane. I have always admired the work that some of the members here are able to do themselves and the creativity is inspiring... I like a couple of your 'little' touches like the piano hinge for the licence plate (I am going to borrow that if you don't mind ) and the hose over the shackle. Great ideas but even greater of you for sharing, thanks mate!
no probs.. havent installed the winch yet, but its on the things to do list,,,,,,,,,,,,
bit on the broke side at the moment so the toy is on hold..... cheers butane
headlights got the full restore, by the instructions
this time i restored the plastic headlight lenses as per the directions,, used all pads and chemicals , and sealed it off with the wipe.
it says that it takes 24 hrs for the sealer to cure so after 8 hrs from when it was applied, i got the wipe out and gave it another wipe over and the difference was much better,,, using the turtle wax restore kit.. again ,, they came up real nice
the new H.L globes are a better match to the color of the ARB mini spots in the bar... havent driven with them yet.. so i'll give more feed back later.....
here she is at full blaze
will go back in the morning and get the rear number plate led's just to evan it out
and cleaned the MAF sensor today as well, ran the tanks to empty and put 25 ltrs of shell 95' in it just to refresh the engine management to think again, will fill it back up with 98 , and see how the next lot of numbers go..
owned the rig for 3 1/2 years, and today was the first time i have added any water to the coolant resorvoir.
been watching it over a long time and it finally got close to the minium mark when hot so i added about 350 ml of water
post thought........ for the battery side when changing the parker globe instead of removing the battery , i just stood on a milk crate ,
and put my arm up through the gap in the bullbar to gain access to the globe housing easy as,, food for thought.......... cheers butane
just greased the drive shafts and uni's , only done 3500 kays since last done and all needed a good hit rear shaft alot drier than the front...
as per usual... ready for the easter trip ...
got a nice witness out of all unis ... and splines pumped up till i see movement in the slide... cheers butane
