Finally got around to installing the diff breathers to the rear diff and transmission today, now I have to do the front when I get a chance... Also trying to hunt down a very annoying rattle on the drivers side rear passenger door area... I will find it tomorrow if it is the last thing I do before I go back to work!

for the first time in a VERY long time I went to an ARB store to see if they had some underbody guards for my VX, alas no but maybe soon. Whilst there I picked up a new ARB LED Light, I have to say I am impressed with the LED light but not as much as my little score... This is the first bit of ARB gear on any of my cars, took me while to install it but great instructions came along with it to make the task easy. I have to say but the bling factor on my car scored a few more points, as well as its off road capability...

Genuine ARB Colour Coded Valve Caps (5 in a pack) Best $9.00 I have spent in a while, great guys at ARB Capalaba as well.

I purchased an ABR Sidewinder Alternator Diode from Ebay last week (Thanks Derek for the quick postage) and very happy with the results. Prado is now putting out a 14.2 volts to the battery. Not bad for $35.00 inc post.

I believe I found my new tires, had my heart set on the BFG All Terrain TA KO but they have just released a new style in the US and I am about to hit the order button from www.tirerack.com... The new BFG Rugged Terrain and they are available in 265/60/R18 however I may go for the 265/65R18 to get the raised white lettering on them. Nice aggressive looking tyre that suits our driving style and keeps the car nice and quite for the wife!

Just a tad over $1000.00 delivered however I will be splitting the order, 2 this week and 2 next week to get around customs...

How does the Rugged Terrain compare to the ATs? More Road biased?

dont worry about splitting delivery doesn't impact on the limit

Just increases your costs with the money transfer

                    • Thanks Matthew, just found that out and now working through it with Tire Rack...

From what I can see and have read the rugged terrain is a mix of highway and AT. Although we both loved the look and ride of the BFG AT's on our previous cars she hated the noise and performance in wet weather at times and since this is her daily drive I think this is the best compromise, best of both world in my books.

                      • I like the 695's better, the BFG looks a little soft? Also what is the load rating of the STD tyre, as they ar only 109, I thought u had 110.

                        • I am not convinced, they remind me of the old coopers ATR's. Interestingly having a "noisy" car I found the BFG AT's were actually quieter then the Dunlop AT2's I had on before. The AT2's were a softroader spec also like the rugged terrains though not LT

Mate you would have issues hearing with the noise of that diesel engine you have in your 'questionable make'. I have held the order as I need to find out what the customs fee's will be due to it being over $1000.00 AU. My pick any day of the week would be the All Terrain KO's but I have a wife who begged me not to put noisy tyres on again in her nice new car and a new baby on the way... This way I see its a win / win, I get my BFG's albeit a little tamer and she gets her quite car. Interesting point but Rob, the load / speed rating was not something I looked into...

Edit, the size that I am getting is 265/65R18 that is 112 T, a little lower in the speed but if I do think I will get it up to 190kph!

Sorry Josh, I could not resist, LOL.

                            • all good, having torque on tap certainly counters for some slight engine noise

I think load rating needs to be equal or better than the placard for the vehicle, not sure about speed rating. QLD transport probably has doco on its site

                              • As long as the load rating is higher or equal u r right as for the speed rating I think it just needs to n and above on a 4wd, however 265/65 will still be illegal in qld until the new laws r passed. Food for thought, I will hate u to get in the shit.
