Great work Samo, Must be catching on,I have also ordered a BT 50 auto XTR 2weeks ago now as a replacement for my 1KZ 120 GX. My one is in the Gunmetal Blue, being delivered in mid July. Have organised a tyre swap to 5 x BFG AT, still trying to decide on ARB or TJM for the barwork.TJM are offering some good sale deals at the moment for BT's.
I don't feel to bad now leaving the Prado camp now that you are doing the same. I will say you won't find a forum with info like PP for the Ford / Mazda.
If you need info sing out as i have been helping a mate with a pre Cape York build up on a Ranger including changing out the suspension this weekend,
Enjoy yours I can't wait for mine.
    Cheers Russ

Can I ask what the reason was for getting the BT50? It seems to be a bit of a trend on here of late.

For me it is something that i have been thinking about for a while. I have had 2 Prados and before that have had a HiLux Xtra cab and a Triton dual cab. We went to the Prados as at the time with kids they served us better. Now days the kids have moved on,and so we don't need the seating etc for a family,it is only the wife and the small dog .We may in the future upgrade our Jayco camper to something else so with a 3500kg towing we will have that box ticked off.
Although i think that the Prado are the best all round 4x4 on the market we did not need another and as was time for a change we started to look at the Dual Cab utes . Also price has a lot to do with it,at $44800 d/a with tint snorkle n mats it is at least 10K cheaper than the GX Prado, throw that $10k at ARB [many of these extras you would add to a Prado] and you have a good touring 4x4. Then there is the standard list with the BT that compares with the GX Prado but with other features including rear Diff Lock,an not forgeting the 147KW and 470nm ,6speed auto [what prado owners wish for]. Yes it misses out on the Prados fuel range but for $1350 you can fit a 150lt fuel tank, but you still miss out on the rear coils and disc rear brakes so that is the down side, and the ride comfort will be my concern. And you also gain the versatility of a dual cab.
I have 2 mates who have gone down the same path ,1 out of a Patrol into a Ranger and the 2nd out of a 100s into a BT50 and both are wrapped in their decisions so this helped mine as well.
                cheers Russ

Dual cabs have come ahead in leaps and bounds compared to the bad old days. Much better. I am lucky enough to have both and still prefer the Prado for a host of reasons, ride comfort being one. Having said that my preferred transport going kayaking is the ute, easier to load up (lifting the kayaks up on the roof after a day of paddling can be a problem) and salt water only drips onto a fibreglass canopy and not a painted steel roof.

Really the new dual cabs aren't bad buses. My BIL and sister are looking to go this way too. They want to change the 100 series for a shopping cart and the farm Colorado for a new one. It's a Holden thing, better not to ask. Ditch the current van and splash out on a fifth wheel trailer. The new ute could still do farm duties and the new van much better for the trips away.

Yep the coopers are going on the bt and the price as well as the std list of features its a no brainer in my opinion, more room more power and torque and better fuel economy it was time to trade the prado, I have had it for 6 years and mechanically it as been bullet proof, great car hope it goes to a good owner cause its got all the stuff still on it minus the draws and bash plates and it will be missed but ya have to move on to bigger things cheers samo

well hutch hard to compare apples with oranges, 2 different vehicles, performance wise ive got a 1 kz and it feels like a ferrari compared to it, bt handles pretty well but it is choppy in the back, but it will ride smoother in a few weeks with some weight over the back, space wise in the back its no comparison, auto is a bit laggy on take of sometimes but there is a fix for that, ie factory reflash but other then that happy as, over time will tell what its like for reliability but im sure if its half the vehicle the prado is im a happy camper. cheers samo
