Re: William's 150 GXL D4D
Hi there mudeye, congrats on the new car. Hope you're enjoying it as much as I am! I've driven my friend's 150GXL (with stock tyres) a few times following the delivery of my Prado (of which had BFG ATs put on right after pickup) so I suppose I am in a position to compare tyre noise... To my surprise, the BFGs aren't all that much more noisy as the sound of the diesel engine sort of drowns it... and with some music, you wont even notice the sound of the tyres.
I've only had the car for about 2 weeks, but I've managed to take it out bush, and got it though some light mud. I'd have to say it performs very well as compared to the stock Grandtreks. As for wet bitumen, I think I've only taken it out on the rain twice since I got the car and again, it performs very well. I have read posts that state the stock grandtreks are dangerous on wet bitumen. Anyway, I'd recommend you check out some other threads (probably under Tyres/Wheels), as there are people who have had BFGs for much longer than I have and can give you a better answer. I was actually convinced from the posts on PradoPoint to trade in the Grandtreks - and have not regretted it!! Also, you might want to think about getting 275/65/R17, good luck getting your hands on a set though as stocks seem to be very limited at the moment.
Cheers
