Hi Doug, I doubt the dealer would know about it (mine doesn't) but the Toyota service centre would. If they want to play the stupidity card, like the service clerk I spoke with, refer them to the owners manual and the fact that others with the local Australian model have successfully activated the option.

    Cheers

I was at Bunnings on the weekend and remembered to buy some of those rubber tips as 8608 recommended for the hose port on the compressor. I was concerned when purchasing the 22mm tips as it looked too small, but actually they fit very nicely. A perfect snug fit, not too tight, not too lose. Thank you 8608! For those interested, here are some snaps:

        Re: William's 150 GXL D4D

Installed a Genuine Toyota towbar today. Installed it in two sessions... Firstly it was the tow bar itself, then later did the cabling with my brother in the evening. The bar installation was gut wrenching as I couldn't get the rear bumper off so I was cutting it by eye from the outside. Trimming off little by little with a dremel, I managed to get the bar to fit in perfectly, leaving no cuts exposed after screwing on the cap.

The whole process took more effort than I thought it would and I was beginning to wonder if I should have just dropped the parts off at a workshop to get installed. The instructions provided weren't instructions but more of a guide! Popping the trimming off for the harness proved to be most challenging. Plenty of gentle pressure would be my advice to those attempting it. By the end of it, I was glad I did it as popping the trimmings and getting a good look at the underbody during the process has enlightened me somewhat and has given me ideas for a dual battery setup

        Closer pic of the Harness

Before anyone asks, I have removed the pin and havent yet cleaned the bumper which has some grease on it...

          looking good there.

just out of curiosity, is there are reason why you went with the genuine toyota tow bar compared to the ARB/Hayman Reese one?

the hayman reese one is similar to the 120 one, and hides 90% of it behind the actual bumper with not much of it hanging down.

i haven't compared the two fitments side by side, but it seems to me that departure angle is greatly decreased with the factory bar.

cheers. keep up the good work.

Thanks! I'm not too happy with the look or the fact that the departure angle has decreased.... but I am happy about how solid it is, in that it spreads the load across the chassis, and the fact that it was free
If I had not been given the genuine bar, I would have gone with the Hayman Reese.

            Cheers

              Re: William's 150 GXL D4D

Acquired some side window sun/wind deflectors today. Now awaiting installation.

Also saw a variety of other aftermarket bling accessories such as:
Front n rear chrome light housing
              Chrome fog light housing
              Chrome side mirror covers
Chrome door handles and handle housing
              White/chrome side strip panels
              Chrome door steps covers
              Chrome fuel cap cover
              Semi chrome bottom lip bumper

Was just too bling for me...

                Re: William's 150 GXL D4D

Following the trial run of the laptop tethered 1080p webcam setup for the Prado, I figured I needed something better. I didn't like the portability of it but did enjoy the ability to record for extended periods, so I decided to add a GoPro HD motorsports edition to the mix. Coupled with a spare battery and a 32gb memory card, it should be able to record about 4hours of video from the two batteries and even more on the same card with a charging source. Cant wait to use it on my next trip

                Pics to follow.

Hi William. Been looking at different options for mats. How much was the full set for your 150. Thanks, Trev.

Sorry, no idea on the price of the rubber floor/cargo mats. My dealer threw them in for free

Thanks. Gives us an idea. Like the rubber, hard wearing and easier than carpet types to clean mud and other crud off of.

Have you put those wind deflectors on yet? I've been thinking about getting a set of these and am wondering what they'll look like and how effective they are.

I'm looking forward to winter when the rains come and water quality in the Murray recovers. Should make for some awesome wet weather footage. Till then, might just be some scenic stuff

Mike, haven't been able to install them yet, I will post pics and review once they go on. The ones I bought aren't the Toyota genuine ones. They were purchased overseas, if anything I think they are more of a sun visor than wind deflectors since the 2nd row gets a set too. We'll see once they go on.
