Nikon D300s for me
10.5mm fisheye; 17-55 f2.8; 12-24 f4; 18-200 f3.5-5.6; 60mm f2.8 micro; 70-200 f2.8 telezoom; SB800 flash
Subal housing with macro & FE2 ports; 3 Sea & Sea underwater strobes; 1 Ikelite underwater strobe
I really like the look of the D800 for a move to FX. Accept that it means consolidating some lenses but the biggest expense is every time I change bodies I need to buy another Subal housing. Last time I did that it was another $5.5k onto the upgrade price. That doesn't include any ports which thankfully are interchangeable between housings.
The reviews I've read on the Canon & later Nikon gear it seems pretty much either or. In my case I have Nikon lenses so that's where I'll stay. No real point in dumping everything to start fresh with Canon.
Cheers

After lots of research, I went with the canon 60d and after using it over Easter I love it. It is perfect for my needs as it has some auto functions and will allow me to grow into the manual settings as my experience improves.
Ended up getting it from Kogan for a bargainBlue storm 150GXL auto TD with tjm steel bulbar, Xgs gold lift with polyairs, airtec etc..

an interesting observation. I went on a trip with 4 patrols and 1 disco, they were all using Nikons, I was the only Canon user....Last edited by JoshF; 22-04-2012, 11:00 PM.

when I was young and fit I used to specialise in rodeo photography I used Canon AE-1programs exclusively, tried heaps of others but they were the only ones that really stood up to the punishment they got, I had them survive being stomped on, slammed against fence posts, shat on, dirt, dust, rain you name it.
They were just automatic enough to help without taking over and manual enough that you could focus and shoot the action and push the film to get enough image in often low light which often needed pushing in the darkroom (darkroom??? what is that???) but I made a good living off of it.
A stint in Antartica showed that the AE-1p were the most consistant in the extreme weather with external battery setups under your jackets to keep them warm enough to operate and other cameras freezing up.
I still have Haselblads for studio work and the biggest comp prize I won was taken with a box brownie (just to prove a point)
my day to day cameras are now a couple of Pentax K20s and a much abused holy-snapping-duckshit-moment-when-all-else-fails Fujifilm S5500 that lives in the glovebox.
Having nice cameras are nice, but what fits with your style and knowing that right 'moment' to push the button is most of the battle.
I loved using the old canons but going digital has given so much more scope to getting the right shot, even so it comes back to that 'moment', if you can't work that out you'll never get the shot.Go Hard or Go Home...

17-40mm Canon lens is a really nice lens... I've also heard the Sigma 12-24mm is a good piece of glass as well.Cheers, Leon
