Just reading today that a 70D is due out early next year. It will be closer to the 7D in spec. Could be interesting.

The two Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lenses are popular, comparatively cheap and very good for the price. Worth considering, depending how wide you're looking to go.

I have a 20D and a 40D that I would sell - and if you buy them both that kinda equals a 60D!!

          G'day,

I was in the same situation regarding wide angle lenses for my Canon. I thought the price for the 16-35mm was just out of reach, however I did like its low aperture of 2.8 which I thought was fairly impressive.

Tho other option that also sprang to mind, and that I eventually purchased was the Canon 17-40mm F4. At half the cost of the 16-35 with most of the same features, bar the lower aperture it ticks all the boxes. Best of all it is also a higher end Canon lens with all the bells and whistles of the 16-35. Have been using this lens for nearly 2 years with outstanding results on my old 400D. Looking to upgrade to a 70D in the near future and this lens should be a perfect combo with the new body.

Already available. I bought a 70D body only, two weeks ago for $1126.

JCG that post was from November last year, hence the "early next year" comment.

I'm trying to decide whether I upgrade from the 60D to the 70D - I don't do a lot of video.

                    Hi
First post. I went with the 15-85mm. Brilliant lens. Very diverse. I have traveled alot overseas and around Oz with it. Great for landscapes and pretty good for portrait and low light. I have alot of other lens but if I need to travel light this is my goto lens.

I agreed what is said above!!!
Anyhow, best wide angle lens that might be one of the zooms that handles a new wide angle range. Canon's 17-55 is actually very good although high-priced, the particular 17-85 is actually less costly.

I just got a Canon 15-85 after my 17-85 finally gave up after years of abuse. Can't wait to see how it compares.

I bought the 15-85 when I bought my 60D and I find that it is a much better lens than the 17-85 (not that it was a bad lens)

Has anyone purchased from DWI and can vouch that they aren't dodgy, etc?

DWI are fine, bought my 60D and some associated kit from them. Dispatch and delivery were prompt and good after sales service. Have not had to make any warranty claims so can't comment how they deal with those.

I bought a Sigma 8-16mm before christmas and am just loving it. How could I go so long without it?
