Mate, if you don't want to go for DSLR but still want to get a DSLR look camera, and a good all - in - one camera, then personally I think it is a good choice. It gives you pretty much all things you need in modern life. Nikon Pxxx series normally is a good quality camera which Nikon focuses on the target of consumers who are between consumers level and DSLR level.

      --------------------------------------------

I am just a big fan of Nikon since the first day, even though I tried some Canon gear bodies but still keep going with Nikon for years.

Following time with both DX and FX gears, still using my D700 (which can't replace because it just keep so many of our memories along our life) with some other FX stuffs.

Really want to get a D3s but still don't know how to tell my wife that D3s will cost me only less than $500 <- I hate Google or any other internet searching machine, because in the past, my girl friend (OMG, now she is my wife) did find out what was Nikon D700 on Google and found that it took me over 2 grants rather than some hundreds

Should I remove the name D3s on the front of the camera LOL

      Never ending story ...

Hi Kylie88, there are many options for you to go with macro lens. From manual to auto - focus. However, your camera body is non-auto motor on camera body (same as D40/D40x/D3000/D3100/D5000/D5100...) and it will Auto Focus only for AF-S or AF-I lenses which normally are very expensive auto lens.

While macro normally will be a short favorite with non-professional photographer - some may find out my idea is not very correct - then spending a lot of money for only macro lens is not a good idea for beginners.

You probably should look for a good manual macro lens which can be 1:2 scale as 55mm f/3.5 macro lens or 1:1 scale with 105mm f/4 macro lens, both those manual focus lens are very good with macro style and can give you very sharp photos. Those ones are quite cheap on Ebay recent days, and they can be used on any of Nikon camera digital body.

Or if you really want to spend a lot of money for auto lens, then 105 AF-S macro lens will be the option for D60, or change your D60 to any of auto-focus motor built-in body such as D70, D90..., then you can have more options with AF-D, or AF macro lens.

          Thanks for that Light5light

Ended up getting the Nikon P510. I have been playing around with all the setting just to see what they do, its all new and interesting. The great thing about digital cameras, you can try different things get a result and if it doesn't work theres no harm none. But so far very happy with the Nikon.

I use Kodak disposables. They're really good and these days have a powerful built in flash. Because they come in a foil pack they are water proof until you open the pack. I get my photos processed at Kmart (I'm sure there are other places that may be better). Only downside is there's only one zoom level, personally I'd prefer three zoom levels.

I always feel a bit stupid when I have $10k or more, worth of gear over my shoulders and pull out the iPhone to take a quick snap... sadly, in my game social media is some of the best marketing around and it just takes too long to post a real shot off a real camera.

15000 frames already on the Canon 5DmkIII and loving it.
So impressed with the mkIII that I'm not sure I'll get the 1Dx as planned.

                  Hi,

Been using two cameras over the years that have performed greatly. I've got the ol' canon IXUS 90IS for quick point and shoot stuff and use a canon 400D for the more intricate landscape photography that I enjoy. I've had both cameras for about 6-7 years and would like to upgrade to a 5D mk3 or something similar, however the 400D does just fine. I've purchased a few additional lenses for landscape photography and use the Lee filter system for long exposure shots. Currently using polarizers, neutral density filters and the like on a canon 17-40mm or 16-35mm lense for landscapes. It works quite well, but would like a newer camera for better detail and to reduce the noise in some of the photos, photoshop will have to do for now until I splash out on a new camera.

Just bought my first DSLR. After heaps of research, and considering my budget, I went with a Canon EOS 600D. Shopped around and got a great deal. Now to learn how to use it.

That's a good choice for a first SLR - lots of features to experiment with, but it can also be as simple as you want it (Green Auto mode - full idiot proof)

Used a Canon 40D for years, just moved up to a 7D. Len's - 24-105L, 70-200L, 17-50 Tamron and 50mm....But even with all the gear I have I still only manage to shoot a low percentage of shots that I actually like! :-( maybe I am too picky
