i gave up on "tire shines". somone once told me that the key ingredient in a long lasting result was the silicon. so i just buy that now and spray it on. lasts for quite a while!

Ok this isn't something that I've added to the car, more something I've used on it and it's brilliant. It's a weller gas soldering iron with torch, cutter and some other attachment with it, you can also get different tips if you need a finer or thicker tip. I purchased mine for work a while back but's it's been a godsend on the Prado from soldering( ) to using on heatshrink, best of all you can adjust the temperature. All you need is a can of butane gas to refill it and it lasts for ages.
All this for around $100

In fact it would have to be one of the best and most usefull tools I've bought for $100.2008 GXL M6 D4D, Silver

I think I am going to request we get one of these for work as trying to solder with a 110VAC soldering iron has whiskers on it.Originally posted by CrammyOk this isn't something that I've added to the car, more something I've used on it and it's brilliant. I got mine from Dick Smith a few years back, I just had a look on their site and they're still at $99.99Originally posted by McBAINtop idea crammy! where'd you source it from? I've got a $20 supercheap gas one that is a thousand times better than electric but still a bit fiddly and the extra tips would be handy!

This thread is flippin' huge but worth the read!
Turbo Diesel owners:
One of my little mods was to put a piece of aluminium flyscreen (not nylon!) across the top of my intercooler. I took the plastic guard off, put in the flyscreen and refitted the guard.
A 5 minute mod that stops bugs and crap going in between the fins of the intercooler and getting stuck restricting full air flow through it. They get trapped by the screen, dry out, and blow away.
Happy, healthy intercooler! 8)'00 KZJ95 Prado GXL

I like the little Homer sticking his head out there Matt....
I am also impressed by your endorsement of Meguiar's products. Used them for years myself. Just cannot beat a Meguiars shine :shock:Greg Simpson "Simmo"

Searching for stuff in the huge black hole that is the centre console got to me so I found these at the local K shoppe. Homemaker Lifestyle mini crate small (19.2x16.8x13.4cm) and medium (25x22x15.5cm). The small fits straight in and you just need to trim a few mm from the outside of the medium (I used a steel rule and pocket knife) and voila...

I put some stick-on picture hooks to hold the top crate in position but it doesn't really need it. Oh and the cost, total less than $10!!!!!My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Love it :!: :!: Will be doing that for sure.
Heres a couple of mine.
The back door storage pocket has allways bugged me, things keep tipping over or falling off the little shelf, so added some stronger shock cord.

Used some shock cord and netting to make a storage basket for the kids soft toys, jumpers and hats etc.

Lots of mods, plenty to come!
