I've toyed for a while with a mounting for the extinguisher. I had contemplated mounting near the drivers feet as it would be available to me straight away and my kids couldn't play with it this but I have two issues with this. Firstly it dosn't seem to move with the seat asw it is fixed to the base frame mounted to the floor. If my wife drives (more than me :cry: ) then the seat needs to be forward. If I drive then I need the seat back a fair bit and just placing the extinguisher seemded to be where one of my feet sometimes locate if I have cruise on. The second issue is I have the Sandgrabber mats and the lip of the mat fouls with the extingusher. So for me it will be along side the rear seats where others have mounted.

after pulling off the rear door seal and cleaning the mess (thanks nath_aus and chippy for the photo) I decided to do something about the broken trim that sits immediately behind the seal and covers the carpet. Here goes:

Bought some new screw lugs from super cheap - round top, square 10mm inserts on reverse




Push these into existing holes on floor of car just behind the seal, 5 in total


Flip the trim over and it may look like this - cut them off




end up with this



then simply place trim back and use the original screws to screw it in place.

To make the fire extinguisher bracket: I just went to Bunnings and to their section where they have all sorts of aluminium strips and bought a piece of flat 25mm by about 2mm strip that was a cut off length about 1.5 metres long. I have quite a bit of it left, if I could find it. It's in the shed somewhere.

Finally found some storage solution for the rear door pocket to store some stuff that I need from time to time. Sometimes I forget my tie down straps, now there is a small selection all the time. Might not work so well for those with the rear door table due to the thickness of the storage compartments. Both items available from Bunnings.

Tie downs for timber drawers

I installed some timber drawers earlier in the year and have been looking for tie down points that won't get in the way when the fridge isn't in the back. The recessed tie down points I've seen would need too much hacking of the drawers and I didn't have the space.

I ended up getting a couple of M6 stainless eye plates



Cut out the slots with a 7mm drill and a knife



Could use bigger eye plates if you want to thread the straps through easier but this works for me and there's no movement once the straps are tight.

I just feed the strap down the slot, through the eye, back up the slot and pull everything up tight. The plates aren't fixed so when the strap are out they just fall in the drawer



With the front handle strapped to the cargo barrier the fridge isn't moving and is ready to be loaded

ARB sell them, I used wood screws short enough not to go through the underside.

Yes, 2 wood screws per tiedown base.
