It was just a standard type extension speaker..nothing special. I'll get the details from the supplier tomorrow and post them.

All I've done is remove the plastic case and bracket off the back. What you see is all part of the original unit.

Mick, did you have to cut into the plastic work or is the speaker shallow enough to sit flush? (Does this make sense?)

It sends a Radio (Uhf) command to my Home auto system to tell it to do the following:

        Open front electric sliding gate.
Turn on (fade up) driveway ground illuminators to 80% brightness (Kinda like small runway edge marker lights).Open the Carport roller door.
Fade on Carport lights to 50%.

Gate shuts automatically after I have passed it's safety beam and driveway lights fade off one minute later.
I hit a button on the wall to shut the carport door and carport lights fade off 4 mins later.

(You can guess I do this kinda stuff for a living can't you??)!

          Drew,

I had to drill through with a hole saw to clear the magnet. Plus four holes for the screws.

Mark the center and screw holes with a pencil first.

The hardest part of the whole job is pulling the console to bits..You can knock the whole job off in a hour or so.

Though so, looking through all the comms speakers I have here and all of them have the speaker cage protruding past the back of the fascia.

            Thanks,

Do you have any specs on that speaker setup? I have been looking around today in electronics and automotive hi-fi shops but nothing looks similar. You said it came out of a dismantled extension speaker, any ideas what the ext speaker came from and is the face cover from the original unit?

This is where I have placed my Navman Pin, with wiring into a cigarette plug under dash

                  And Waeco reversing camera

Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller fitted in well in ash tray and the TX 3440 mike is the only part of unit outside

Dont worry, I only have to press one button to make it all work. The programming of the home auto system however was a bit trickier.

Its nothing fancy compred to some of the homes we have done.

Just found my snatch strap will fit in the rear door pocket with the fastlock clip holding it. Nice and handy without rolling around in the back.

i put my strap in the pocket on the passenger side. i put jumperleads in teh back door pocket...

my compressor still just sits in the back on the floor.. but that will do until i get a better one that i will mount under the bonnet.

This is a great thread and over time I can see meny things being added. The problem I can see is that the thread may end up 10 pages long and take an hour to read through and digest all the great ideas members have had.
Possibly the best thing to do is make a sticky post seperate to this thread and list all the items discussed here with maybe a link to the person who posted about it....
                          for example.....

                          What do you think?
                          cheers

I've installed my Fire Extinguisher based on this thread. Great idea. I've also shifted the trailer plug (well the removal part was done with the aid of a large rock). Its now mounted in the bumper well away from rocks & stumps etc.

I tucked mine up out of the way after giving it a nudge on some rocks. I also chucked the Anderson plug up on top to keep it out of the way.
