Another interesting " Fact" that I heard on the radio from a "expert" is

A solar panel will never in its predicted lifetime save more greenhouse gasses than were produced through the manufacture of the panel.
ie the carbon dioxide produced from the furnaces that make the silicon wafers and for the aluminium extrusion and the glass panel.

Sort of takes away the warm fuzzy feeling you get thinking you are saving the planet by putting them up.

Stuff the green house gases... thats beyond my control. The only warm and fuzzy feeling I'm after is the knowing that I'm paying less to the greedy power companies...

Is it ever, when we got ours installed in 2011 we thought 10 190 panels and a 4.2 inverter was a bargain at $3,700 till the guy that installed it told us he fitted his own system and the total price for parts (no labor) was $1000 for a THREE K' system !!! just to give you an idea that system 3 years ago was around 9 grand, that's EIGHT grand profit for 3 hours work , plus what they get from the government rebate, not bad if you can get it aye ?
