Oh <insert relevant deity here> yes, every second car around here seems to be one of those too. They're so self absorbed they ignore everyone and everything around them. My bloody customers can be like that too, have the phone on the ear the whole time you're serving them. I don't know what these f-wits did before mobile phones came along.

I don't normally notice people texting that much but today after talking about it on here, jesus I couldn't count how many I saw today. And it wasn't just young p platers, there were loads of middle aged women. Every time I stopped at traffic light there were women turning round grabbing their handbags and grabbing phones, testing away and not realising the lights had gone green. I'm sure it was just a coincidence but they were all women, whats that about?

yes that's great advice , everybody should learn to ride a motorbike on Sydney roads that way everybody would be the recipient of a Darwin Award or they would learn how to drive properly without crashing into everything .

Agreed, everyone should have to ride a motorbike for the first year of their licence. It would permanently weed out those who shouldn't be on the road & make those who get through even more aware of their surroundings when they drive. It's win win.

I agree. Its called natural selection, much along the same lines as all the advertising in Adelaide at the moment regarding behaviour around the railway tracks as they are becoming electrified. Why waste the money?

I still hear people arguing the benefits of seat belts and how they can trap you.

I'll never forget attending a head on collision about 20 years ago on the Lincoln Hwy. One car everyone was wearing seatbelts and weren't too badly injured. The other car, no seat belts, the driver had embedded himself in the steering wheel (pre airbags) and the young female passenger had gone through the windscreen and was lying dead about 50m down the road.

The other dumb thing is carrying an unsecured load in the back, fridge etc with no cargo barrier. You'll survive the crash only to be cleaned up by a projectile in the car.

Personally I don't care if others don't want to use seatbelts in their cars as I am a firm believer in "you reap what you sow". What does piss me of is mum or dad in the front with their belt on but the kids are freely jumping around in the back without one. How the hell can someone be that irresponsible with their childrens lives????
If caught they should have their licence cancelled forever.

Our kids were brought up with "no belt, no drive" and from an early age they would encourage everyone to put the belt on or the car wasn't going anywhere. It's good here in WA where if a passenger isn't wearing a belt/approved restraint then both the passenger and the driver get a ticket. Really makes their day during double demerit weekends.

My daughter is the same, when she was little by the time you'd backed half way down the driveway she'd check everyone had their belt on lol.
I thought that seatbelt law was nationwide with both people getting tickets for passengers without a belt???

That's the rule in QLD as far as I know.

I thought there was a rule in Qld where you were okay to release the seatbelt if, and only if, you had to climb into the rear to grab another fourex for the driver?
