I learned today that manual for the Webber trolley for the Baby Q is not very clear about assembly. Will try again tomorrow.

It is more functional if you leave it in the tray and luse it to commence the heat bead burning.......

I learnt that there's wasps who have taken up my hedge as their new home since I trimmed it last. I also learnt that one of their favorite places to sting is on the end of my nose. My 6 year old and his friend found it pretty amusing.

I learned that my Kakadu's steering is more responsive than it feels when I had to swerve around some idiot who came flying out of a servo right as I was passing their driveway. I don't even think he was looking in my direction, it was that close.

I learnt that if I think about things long enough, I can come up with a half decent solution.

My air filter is dusty as hell after a Googs trip and I wanted to clear it out a little. I thought if I hooked up the ball inflator thingy to my ARB air compressor, I would have a nice concentrated flow. Bewdiful, did a magic job. Even managed to clean the dust out of the door hinges.

That just when you think that you and your family cannot exist on a little over $2500 per fortnight (courtesy of the aussie tax payer) along comes a mining company to give your family up to $20,000 to splurge as you see fit. And, in a few weeks time, the tax payer will be giving you your Christmas "double pay" so you can make ends meet over the festive season.

My wife and I have a small tribe of kids, own our house with no mortgage and have all our cars paid for on about 3/4 of that fortnightly income.... some people need to stop complaining.

This is form a safety share at a meeting I had this morning:

Thought I would pass this on for those interested in remote travel this summer – Road Rule #1 – The Largest Vehicle has the Right of Way …..

Passing this on may save a life !

It is that time again to send you all out a reminder to travel with care on all remote roads, particularly the Roper Highway. Sherwin are now hauling ore out of their mine and the increase in heavy traffic is noticeable, mix in a volume of ‘grey nomads’ and the recipe can end in tears.
On single lane bitumen roads it is advisable to completely leave the road and let the trucks remain on the sealed surface, this will save your windscreen and more. Treat all bridges as if they are single lane, the vast majority of bridges on the minor highways are single lane.

The above below are a great reminder of what can happen when you fail to give these heavy vehicles the respect they deserve. I was the first on scene following this incident on the Salt Creek bridge, approximately 15Km down the Roper Highway this afternoon. Luckily no serious injuries and police, ambulance and fire service were only a matter of 20 minutes away. This could have been a lot worse. Yes, that is a caravan stuck on the bull bar and yes, that is a Victorian number plate. Playing chicken with roadtrains will only end up with one result.
Please travel safe and be aware of other vehicles, road conditions and your own driving abilities. If you are not confident in your own first aid skills please consider some training, you may be the first on the scene and be required to save somebody’s life one day.
