C'mon Glen, I knew it was easy but I thought it would last longer than 5 minutes.

But yes, your right. You too Mick, on both counts.

You could be excused for thinking that. It's actually taken on the Oodnadatta Track heading north towards Lake Eyre South on the way to the GTG recently. We drove through this for maybe 2 hours or more until it finally cleared around William Creek.
This dust storm blacked out most of southern SA and reached as far east as Melbourne I believe.
Here is another shot as we were approaching it just north of the desert sculpture park outside of Marree.

Sorry to hijack the thread Yota, it's still your go.

Oh ..... the subtlety

The Burke and Wills `Dig Tree` is one of Australia`s National icons and an enduring reminder of the pioneering spirit and extreme harshness of the outback at any time.
Nappa Merrie Station is proud to officially manage the site on behalf of the Royal Historical Society of Queensland. Located on the northern bank of Cooper Creek the `Dig Tree` is a Coolibah (Eucalyptus microtha).

In 1898 John Dick carved Burkes face into another tree (the Face Tree) about 30 metres downstream of the `Dig Tree`.
The site is as Burke and Wills and companions would have viewed it nearly 140 years ago. These trees are an attraction and a link to the explorers of Australia`s Historic Past.

In 1860-61 Robert O'Hara Burke and William John Wills led an expedition of 18 men with the intention of crossing Australia from Melbourne in the south to the Gulf of Carpentaria in the north, a distance of around 2,800 kilometres (?1,750 miles). At that time most of the inland of Australia had not been explored by non-indigenous people and was completely unknown to the European settlers.

The south-north leg was successfully completed (except they were stopped by swampland 5 kilometres (3 miles) from the northern coastline) but owing to poor leadership and bad luck, both of the expedition's leaders died on the return journey. Altogether, seven men lost their lives, and only one man, John King, travelled the entire expedition and returned alive to Melbourne.

Just a few kilometres to the east is a monument marking the site of the death of John O'Hara Burke, leader of the ill-fated Burke and Wills Expedition of 1861, whilst the site of Will's death is a few kilometres to the west of Innamincka.

                        Their journey ..........

                        Cheers
                        Chippy

The rock type is Granite. We are looking approximately south, and yes, that is a trig point.

Looks nice and green in those paddocks and good to see some rain catchment in the granite.
Could it be part of the Gawler Ranges/Wudinna area S.A.

                                You are very warm.

The country out there is looking the best it has in memory. It's a bit hazardous driving in some parts of the ranges because as soon as you drive off the track you're up to your axles in mud. When I say off track, I mean a tyre width. We nearly got caught a couple of times, and there were some tracks we backed out of because we could see a big walk out happening.

I need the name of the location marked by the trig point.
