  • Dark coloured or any colour vehicles on foggy mornings when the street lights are still on that don't use their headlights. I pulled out of my street and and nearly had a vehicle rear end me. They blew their horn and flashed their lights, no good now is it. While sitting at the next intersection I tapped my brake lights and then they finally turned their lights on.

Also vehicle driving at either at sun up or sun down that only have their park lights on. They should only be used when "parked" not while they are driving. Isn't that why they are called park lights???????

It is extremely hard to find people who are prepared to put the effort into training and put back I to their community, even harder to find people who can turn out during the day. So when people come along with some skills and a desire to learn its important to harness that energy, it helps the units evolve and continue to run. However, not many units have the management structure to harness that energy which is disappointing.
Different states have different roles and responsibility, in Vic we are the largest provider of road rescue. This seems to keep us busy, not always a rewarding task. I've just returned home from a debrief from a rescue we performed yesterday where a young boy was killed. I much prefer a happy ending... Don't we all! The past few years I have been in a team that has represented VicSes at the world and Australasian Road Rescue Challenges in New Zealand, Hobart and Next month Canberra. Here we have learnt world leading skills and taken them home to teach others. I also seem to end up teaching chainsaw skills, and rooftop and storm response.

It's not for everyone, but I've made some great mates through my involvement, learnt and taught new skills all whilst doing my bit for the community.

        Cheers JPH

          • When your wife wants to go up the corporate ladder and demands that I write her application for her. Guess I should help her out - the more she earns - the more money she has to pay bills - the more I can spend on my toys and travels.

            • So true "roo" John. Same here in Sydney, when they first started changing over red light cameras to safety cameras. They keep talking about safety they decided to upgrade the red light camera up from me to a safety camera and yet the school down from the lights in a side street but still a main road didn't have flashing warning lights in the 40k zone, wonder why ??? Mmm maybe cause they would make more money from the camera. ? Just maybe.... Cheers Steve

              • F$%king scammers!!!

Called into the inlaws house yesterday arvo and the mother in law was on the phone to some bloke for half an hour, in the end she asked me "can you speak to him as i cant understand him and he's helping me fix the computer" So i get on the phone to this wanker pakistani with the thickest accent i've ever heard. He was trying to tell me how to fix the virus they had recieved. So i told him to wait and asked mum what was going on and who he was. She said he was from microsoft and he rang her because they detected a virus on her computer. i just laughed at her then picked up the phone and abused this filthy scumbag til he hungup. i told her microsoft will never ring you and the only reason this bloke knew there was a virus on the comp is because he put it there and was trying to scam all your banking details via you comp access.
Anyway, called the real microsoft, called some real teckies and got it all fixedup at a cost of a couple of hundred bucks.

That's 3 in nearly as many weeks for people i know....... A mate lost 10,000 deposit in a very elaberate boat scam a few weeks ago (even though i said something felt wrong & not to do it), giving him the amount of shit we have though was definately worth the lost 10k. Another mates business got hit for an attempted $7000 but they failed. And now this to the bloody inlaws of all people.

F$%king dirty scammers......just once i'd like to catch them in the flesh.

                Cheers

                    • I'm lucky I don't get many calls as we have private number but any that I do I ask them to hold a minute, turn on the iTunes and put in front of phone and walk off and leave it. There a pain in the arse. Your lucky JSS you walked in when you did or could have been a lot worse.... Cheers Steve

                      • What I find amazing with these a-holes is how persistent they are. I had nothing better to do one night a few months ago so I kept one of them on the phone for nearly 30 minutes, first playing dumb and asking for clarification on everything he was saying, then arguing with him, then being downright rude but I couldn't put him off...I eventually blinked first and just hung up.

The kids making too much noise? Ramming the house with the toy trucks? Snot getting wiped all over the furniture?
Well it doesn't really bother me too much, what can u do?
Life too short to get ticked off!

Don't worry Roo they're going to review speed limits and they "might" go up in certain areas. What a load of sh!t they waste a heap of our money reviewing accidents and then decide the only way to fix it is to lower all the speed limits. One comment was that sections of the pacific motorway may go up. One way of fixing it would be having a constant speed limit, then you could focus on the road rather than what speed limit your now in. The too wombs range is another one, changes every time you go up it.

So true big dog, I guess it's one way of them making more money cause it changes all the friggin time, pain in the arse, I'm just on my way home from a week in cairns and the sign posting up here is very few and far between, come out of a side street and you wouldn't have a clue what the limit is for another k up the road unless you have a good memory from travelling the road the night before...... Cheers Steve
