    Hi Mav, Zook,

I just think see what happens with advert... 8)
If people are interested they will find PP, and us for that matter ,on the other hand I think unfortunately there are alot of people driving these great 4WDs and not using them as 4WDs in alice  as you guys know as well as I do that there are hell of alot of prados driven in Town.

And probably never leave the bituman, I call them token 4WDers.....

    My two cents.

    Nathan

Definitely Nathan, many of them are simply being driven to ferry the kids around in.

The rim walk is pretty good ain't it. I have been going to Kings Canyon since the only place to stay was Wallara Ranch. Now long gone but the man that owned it and developed it now owns Stuarts Well roadhouse. Good for a rest and something to eat, we sometimes go down there for lunch. When I first started going to the Rock you could go anywhere you wanted. There were no fences blocking off anything. In those days the lassetter HWY was just a red bulldust track and the accommodation was at the base of the rock, oh and did I mention that it was free to go there?

Ok, I think were getting a bit off track here. This thread is mainly concerning attracting new members local to Alice. I understand that this area is mecca for tourism, but the real issue here is getting a local Prado owners network so we can exchange knowledge and to go driving with. I understand that alot of Prados exist in Alice, the Q is, how do we get them interested in forming a social group? Are these vehicles only used for domestic use or do they actually get off the black top. There are plenty of owners around that talk the talk but dont actually walk the walk. Ideas poeple I need ideas. Get your thinking caps on and lets keep on track. Where doing well so far, lets not stop now.

Don't know what else that can be done bar an ad in the Advocate which will cost a bit of money to be effective.

Re: Attracting new members to PP in Alice

Been thinking about this for a while... Like Alice Springs, Darwin has heaps of nice Prados getting around, many with mods for off road driving and touring, but none so far spotted with a PP sticker!

Mav, have you considered perhaps designing a simple flyer that could be placed under the windscreen of Prados that look like they actually travel off road once and a while. The flyer could list the website and also invite the owner to a family get together day (say held at the Telegraph Station) for a BBQ and to try and to rally some likely PPointers. Make it BYO and costs will be few.

If no-one turns up, you can still have a nice family day to yourself!

                  Just my 2c worth. 8)

I tried the business cards under what I thought were good prospects but nothing ever came of it. Also had Pradopoint advertised on the TV through 7 Central but nothing came from that either.

Oh well. Pradopoint 2009 GTG should, at least, attract a fair bit of local interest at the time if you get some local media coverage say from the Centralian Advocate and Imparja. I guess this will be your best chance ever of highlighting PP to the Alice. 8)

It's no good you lot! You're going to have to put on a strip show. You need something waaay out there to get people's attention. Naked people have been used to sell cars for years, seems like a good tactic. If you try shoving flyers in people's faces you will very likely suffer the "jehovas witness" phenomenon and create angry mobs which will drive you outta town. You let people wander along to the show you guys put on and let them see the posters you put up. Then, they'll think the idea to check out PradoPoint was their idea all along. Gotta be a little smart about it is all. After a little bit of stripping practice in the garage you'll soon get the hang of it. Not that I'm an expert or anything.....

Well geez! Just trying to help out! All my good ideas seem to come to nothing!

I'd help you you guys out with the show but the idea is for people to still be alive when the show is over. People might also get a tad suspicious when they see "top health cover required" on the flyers around town. Oh well, you guys can hand flyers to Grandma's at the local IGA  . But you know what you gotta do for the real crowds.... 8)
