i even had to fight the wife for my torch.

and to be totally fair, i got her a P7 on the 12th of april for her birthday. now she has her own and never needs to touch mine again. she has it in her bag all the time, and i guess if you can't wack a thug with it, you can always turn it on in their eyes. the new capsicum spray. sort of.
Is the p14 much stronger beam than the p7. I know they advertise more lumens etc but how strong of a beam is it in real life ?

I just had a P7 arrive the other day (ebay) $29 delivered looks to be a great torch. Will give it a work out over the next 2 weeks.

Matt, I posted this pic in viewtopic.php?f=37&t=9277 Should give you the idea of the difference between the P7 and P14.

            4D maglite, P7 and P14 L to R. Trees about 60m from the torches.

Fair bit bigger to carry so if portability is the main requirement a P7 is fine but the P14 does offer some serious light for the size and the bigger batteries give longer life. I also have an H7 that I use around the camp and when mountain biking at night (obviously) it is a little dimmer than the P7 but still good enough to watch all the bugs and spiders flying at you on the bike! We now have a P7 that lives in the Prado, a P14 that I keep in the R8 which has found many an errant tennis ball and #2 son has a P14 for Scouting/Venturing. And the H7.

Re: Gadget Review, Led Lenser torch

i had a look on the led lenser website, and the 1st thing to come up is a warning to be aware of imitation torches out of china, even though the proper ones are made in china anyway.

anyone experienced a dud one yet?

I looked around at the local suppliers of the Lenser P7 and nearly choked at the $100+ asking price. I then fleabayed and found a number of suppliers. I'm guessing that I will possibly have a genuine immitation but I don't really care as long as it works. Looked at a supplier in HK for about $22 each plus about $10 for shipping but was listed as taking about 25 working days for delivery. Ended up buying from an Australian seller for $36 all up. Hopefully will arrive mid next week. I think the seller was called TheLedGuy or something like that

LED Lenser now make an H14 that is a head torch with the same bulb as the P14. Looking to grab one for night bike rides. As for the retail price I find that if you google and then approach the local distributers you can generally match the prices and pick up straight away. Seems to be the usual warnings about copies floating around too with the LED Lenser site giving tips on picking falsies!

Got the H7 head torch today with a free P3 for $69.00 from Nubco. The head torch has great distance and very bright and the P3 is unreal for a little torch. I think next on the list is a P7 might even collect them all.

Didn't know they made torches this bright.
