Couldn't sleep Dennis. Must have been a premonition of the fantastic weekend we had. Put the lockers (front and rear) to the test and the winch too after getting a little too confident in the mud on the recent border track trip.

Also put the P14 to the test. It passed with flying colours!!!!!!! Have Mick getting me another one for my son as the deal is well worth it.

PM sent to those that sent one to me with the quoted prices

If anyone else wants one PM me asap

The LEDLENSER supplier will also provide cheap prices later on if anyone is interested but he needs a minimum quantity of a total of 5 [doesnt matter what model/s are]

And as I said in earlier post, he has assured me they are the genuine item

        cheers Mick

Got it through Ebay, worldtradecity is the dealer. It was an auction and I placed a real low bid not expecting to win, but i did! The $39 includes delivery.

          Cheers Andrew

                  • got my P7 today in the post, looks to be original. Got it from a fleabayer in melbourne. Well made and bright enough for what I need it for. The adjustable focus is neat too.
Thats a great buy you got too Andrew.

And wow those HIDs look bright but expensive and the battery doesnt last that long before needing a recharge (but you got to expect that given the output!), so guess its horses for courses. Would be a good spotty backup!

I havent seen any but are there any floating waterproof marine versions of the LED Lensers about?

the price is based on us buying what we have already agreed on for those that have PM me before this

Price quoted is $32 each based on 5 of these P7 being purchased

So if there are enough interested let me know ASAP

                        • This thread was originally designed as a thread for GADGET REVIEWS so probably better off leaving this one and having a new thread just for the purchase of the LEDLENSER torches.

I have started a new thread here:

                          • I picked up the Led Lenser H14 head torch on Saturday and did a bit of a comparison this evening. I will post pics tomorrow as I don't have Photoshop at home to resize the shots.

Quick summary is that it is more powerful than the H7 but that comes at the cost of more weight and bulk. Both head torches are less powerful than their torch namesakes but that is more to do with the focusing ability of the torch lenses than the LED itself. The lens area is very similar to the P14 (no real surprises) whereas the H7 is a different unit and far more compact than the P7. The battery pack on the H14 is a separate unit and it comes with an extension cord to enable the battery pack to be carried on the belt. That gets a big chunk of the weight off the head strap. The beam focus is pull back and forth like the torches unlike the H7 which has a small lever under the lens unit. The dimming function is built into the on/off switch on the battery case. There are three lighting modes (professional, easy and defence) with a combination of standard lighting functions like SOS, stobing (including defense strobe @ 20Hz and while I have no idea of the science it is unpleasant to look at), various dimming levels and a boosted beam while the on/off switch is held. And there are two energy modes (constant current and energy saving). It is also possible to use the head torch as a morse sender.

The H14 head strap includes an over head strap as well as the usual one around the skull. This helps support the light and is much better than the H7 which does tend to slip around unless the strap is quite tight. The battery box has an LED which gives you a quick view on the state of the batteries. Green for 70 - 100%, orange down to 20% and red indicating time to change the batteries. The LED will blink when the batteries have 5 ~ 10 minutes of life left.

The H14 can also be easily detached from the head strap and set up as a belt mounted lamp, a stand alone mobile spotlight and direct mounted on a bicycle handlebar or similar with a bracket that is available separately. Both the battery case and the lamp have belt clips.

I used to be able to get away with wearing the H7 and fitting my bike helmet over the top, that is not possible with the H14 it is too big and the helmet won't sit properly. By removing the headband the H14 can mount easily on the top of my helmet with the aid of a cable tie. I may get the handlebar mount and run both the H7 and H14. Will see how that goes. Should get the attention of anyone I ride towards!

Is it worth it? Probably, I need to test it bike riding which is why I bought it. The H7 is good but you are limited to 15 ~ 20kph which can be a bit slow on some of the downhill sections I like to ride. Having said that for camping purposes the H7 is a better unit, much lighter to wear, plenty of battery life and you are able to quickly reduce power when you walk into camp and generally powerful enough for most purposes. The H14 is certainly more robust than the H7 and should be more durable. I have had to make a minor repair on the H7 lens pivot which is a bit flimsy. The H14 is far from feeling flimsy or vulnerable. It does throw more a bit more light than the H7 and because it uses 4 AAs instead of 3 AAAs I think the battery life should be better.

                            Michael

                            • From L to R, H7, H14 and P14

Distance about 60m as per previous comparison picture in page 7, post #65 of this thread.

                              H7 and H14 together at ~ 30m

As you can see a slight difference with the H14 being more powerful at the same distance with a bigger beam.
