      Spot on Mick,

Several people at a function last night receive the same message. We had exactly the same thoughts, what a complete waste of taxpayer funds, and elderly and babies dont have mobiles :?

Oh Boy that is HOT! My brother is in Hoppers Crossing, just up the road from Avalon. When I spoke to him yesterday he said the thermometer under his pergola got to 51 - no air circulating under there. I wonder what it got to today?

22 here in Adelaide today, nice to have a bit of relief from the heat. I'm flying to Melbourne tomorrow so I'm hoping a change swings through there too :!: :!:

Yep, 46.7 was hot. Clearly the Vic government didn't feel an SMS warning was really of benefit - we were going to burn anyway :?

At the temperatures we had I wouldn't be surprised if some of the fires self-ignited (oil in leaves getting too hot etc). I don't know at what temp some of these things happen but it doesn't take much.
Here the whole don't use aircon thing is purely to stop blackouts as far as I'm aware.
