  • The Favourite Photo Thread

Okay folks, I know there are a lot of us on here that are also into photography, so how about we have a fav photo thread so we can share our exploits with each other. Only post up what you think are excellent shots that you personally have taken. Do not post up other peoples work etc and lets make a rule of one photo post in the thread per day, That photo post could have a number of photos in it but keep it reasonable, no more than 4 photos at one time.

I will kick it off with some macros I have taken recently:

    A Dandelion

    A Red Back Spider

Taking time to smell the flowers

The Red Back was tripod and natural plus fill flash, dandelion was natural light handheld, the ant was handheld natural plus fill flash.

              Re: The Favourite Photo Thread

This is some of what I've been up to over the last 3 years.
Probably not typical of what you might expect (I'll get some landscapes up sometime too), but some may find them interesting.

First up, a pic of a modeling balloon being burst under water using short duration flash as the shutter at 1/7000th" and cross polarized.

This ones not technically a photograph but it's a Scanning Electron Microscope Micrograph of the compound eyes of a prawn, imaged at 4000X magnification.

This a fungi shot at half lifesize using 4 slaved flashes and shot at about 9:00PM.

And for those of you who can see stereographs (3D) this is Flinders Street Station in Melbourne taken from the top of the Rendezvous Hotel.
Stare well beyond your screen, then defocus your eyes until you start to see 4 images. Let your eyes merge the centre two until you can only see three. The middle will be in 3D. Enjoy.

              Cheers - Phil Taylor

Nice work. Love the Pygmy Seahorses. How are you lighting them? Just one strobe attached to the Nikonos? I know someone who does a lot of this around Port Phillip Bay here and has rigged strobes up so he can bring a nice rim light in. I've never done underwater (probably never will)...I can imagine it would be extremely hard. Keep them coming folks!

                  Aargh... my eyes hurt

This is worse than one of those 3-D computer prints where you need to stare and stare until finally you see the 3-D image. I hope the wind doesn't change! WIll drinking beforehand help?

Here's a couple taken on a roadtrip the wife and I did back in January.
1st one was taken at sunset in Silverton.

This one was just outside Hay.
