    Re: Webber Baby Q

Thanks for the feedback lads. Some very useful info.
Nothing like getting some feedback from the horses mouse.
Might take a trip down to the local BBQ store and check out the Q200/220 and make a decision from there and also check out the accesories, Breakfast plate etc.
I think the 200 is still the go

Here is a link off the Weber site i found pretty useful

            Re: Webber Baby Q

We've had the baby Q for over a year now, great for camping as it fits nicely inside the camper trailer. We also picked up the hotplate for doing our fried eggs (essential for my speciality egg/mushroom/onion breakfast burger).
We also like to do potato wedges by putting the wedges on a trivet and wrapping in baking paper. very simple.

Im with you pomp, one of the very first snacks we cooked up were some potatoes cut in wedges, precooked, then into a bag with some masala and flour and then in the weber. Served up with a little sour cream and sweet chilli..... mmmmmm

                Re: Webber Baby Q

                Got my Weber Q200 yesterday!

Didnt waste any time as my mouth was watering with anticipation!

Fired it up for the first time.
                REPORT:-
This is the best gas BBQ i have ever used! I cant believe how tender the meat was and perfectly cooked through.
And the best thing is i got it for free! I reedemed some points through work. I would have preferred the Q220 but i was happy anyway.
The guys at the BBQ shop said next year you will be able to buy the Q220 higher lid and thermo and bolt it on.

So i went out and bought the portable trolley, the breakfast griddle, pizza stone and roasting Trivete.

                Now for some left overs....

                  Re: Webber Baby Q

David Jones is having 15% off Weber Q's from boxing day, the only drawback is they carry only the basic lines.
I am going to get a little 100.

                    Re: Webber Baby Q

My thoughts are the baby Q's don't really need the temp gauge but I bought a small cooking timer which I use all the time. 3/4" steak preheat 10mins then 2 mins each side perfect medium rare. Wouldn't use any other method for cooking chops, steak, rib on the bone the list is endless. Ours was originally purchased as a caravan BBQ but now gets used all the time at home. Great cooker and easy to keep clean

Just back from 2 weeks bush camping. Took the baby Q. It cooked pizza, potato bake, home made sausage rolls, nachos, a 54cm flathead oh and some steak and sausages too. Brilliant.

                            Webber Baby Q

I've got the weber q100 & cooked leg of lamb, roast chicken & various other roast style meals which have turned out sensational !
However one thing I can't get right(too rare or overcooked) is a steak. Anyone got any tips to save me the trail & error

                                ss-ss

The "secret" to cooking a steak is to know the different feel of meat as its cooks.
Very easy once you know that I was show a simple way by a chef.
Basically you feel the part of your hand between your thumb and index finger, while your thumb and index finger tips touch => that feeling is rare
Then touch thumb and middle finger tips together => that is medium rare
Then touch thumb and ring finger tips together => that is medium
finally thumb and little finger tips => thats well done

As you change fingers you will feel the tension increase between thumb and index finger this is your guide to how well cooked the meat is.

Remember to that it cooks quicker with the lid down.
