    Re: Prado Stolen

    Lindsay
very sorry for your loss Our thoughts are with you
Lowlifes living under rocks (have many other words for this but as it is a public forum i will refrain)just cannot realise
how much time and love and effort, hardworking people put into turning their vehicle into not only the family transport
but , the kids taxi, the offroad companion, in general a 4wd to be proud of..................
I really hope they are caught, and have something they cherish taken from them (Freedom would only be a start)

      Re: Prado Stolen

      Good Morning everyone,

Once again thanks to everyone for their support. The upside to this, and we will make sure there is an upside, is that at least I already know what accessories I want on the next one and already have approval from the financial department.

It has been a fairly unpleasant week, one where work has been a welcome distraction, but now having made the effort to find the remains of our prado, and having seen what was done to it has given me a sense of closure on the whole thing. At the end of the day it is just a car, although one that has provided us with lots of enjoyment over the last two years, and it will be replaced with another Prado that is even better. The main thing is that none of my family were hurt or injured when those responsible came into out house in the middle of the night and took the vehicle out of our garage.

      Cheers

        Re: Prado Stolen

Sorry to hear that Lindsay & Linda, I certainly know how you guys feel at the moment as it's happened to me on several occasions (the joy of living in western Sydney  ).

WTF, ....from your garage at Nelson Bay to Mittagong :!: :?: Sounds to me like the culprits know you, hopefully the police will be making an early arrest

        Cheers,

          Re: Prado Stolen

Sorry to hear Lindsay, I hope good things can come out of this.
As for the car being stolen out of the garage, it sounds like whoever took your pride had their eye on it for a while and were willing to go out of their way to get it, - especially when there is plenty of 'other' cars around on the streets for joy rides.
Looking forward to more installments into this, hopefully we can all learn something to better protect our pride and joy.

This is a powerful sentiment and combined with the power of 'group think' I doubt it will too long before those responsible bear the wrath of PPers might.

Hope something good comes of it Lindsay.

I saw the post earlier today but the photo didn't load. Just looked again and I am speechless. I can only hope that the culprits are caught. Have seen this sort of brainless act a couple of times before and I still don't understand the motivation. Hope all turns out ok in the end, no one deserves this.

Hope they catch the bastards and burn there vehicle's, see how they like it!

You can rest knowing that those degenerative oogadaa boogada thugs will rot for eternity in the depths of hell! Evil begets evil and people like that, surely have messed up lives. The sad fact is, that those thugs won't give a damn about what they did because they simply don't give a damn about life. Maybe on their death beds they'll develop a guilty conscience, but I won't hold my breath. I can only hope the freaking Devil can beat some sense of right and wrong into them. These shytes don't deserve to live in the same city as people like us. As far as I'm concerned, they can all go into the desert to build a railway on survival rations and have a little think about why what they did is wrong. The idea of them living it up in jail with plasma TV, 3 meals a day, and all other expenses paid riles me like nothing else  . The hell with them, the horse they rode in on, and any of their ideas about not having any chances in life......

                        Re: Prado Stolen

Condolences for those of your pride and joy PRADO.

Local dealer here was showing a Jackaroo to a couple of prospective buyers. Two young miscreants (of indigenous decent) came along, jumped and drove off. The keys were in the ignition. They did a fuel drive off at a local servo and stole some alcohol from a liqour store before driving off towards Menzies.

They got about 60km before rolling the car. A passer-by helped them right the car and they drove off again. Then, on the sharp left bend heading into Menzies (80 zone) rolled the car yet again. This time the passenger was killed and the driver apprehended with a broken leg. I guess that's a form of justice in itself and the only downside was that the driver survived.

Call me a heart-less bastard, but these people want EVERYTHING, not just landrights, royalties, sit down money (dole), free housing, free medical - they want all your stuff too.

                            Re: Prado Stolen

States really need to get together with drawing up legislation that will make this offence a serious one.

At the moment we have the offence of illegal use of a Motor Vehicle, a piddling offence.

In the USA they have Grand Theft Auto.

Larceny of a Motor Vehicle is the way to go, regardless of the offender/s intentions.

Minimum of 5 years jail and then a min of 3 years probation.

We also need our Police to establish Stolen Vehicle Task Forces, at present one hand has no idea what the other is doing.

When I was a cop in the Northern Territory I went on a weeks holiday to NSW. When I returned home I went to start my car that was parked under the attached carport and found the bloody engine had been knocked off. Nobody saw anything and Police inclusive of me just didn't have the time to investigate it.

                              Re: Prado Stolen

Sorry to hear the bad news, up here in Alice the fireries have also had to put out quite a few Prados burning in the last 18 months or so since ive been living here. Some have been private owners where the rest have been Goverment vehicles. Its a shame alround though, as having an attachment to your vehicle is like it being part of the family. Our Prado although a bit older gets a bit of shelter from the elements in its carport and we feel safe locked behind a big gate. Although with mongrels out there that keep doing these actions will never make our pride and joys completely safe form the low lifes. Over the years 4wding I have come across many a 4by stolen, burnt and trashed, especially arond the Menai area. Anyhow a few years ago I came across a couple looking for their 100 series which was only a few weeks new had been stolen, trashed and dumped at Menai. They asked for a lift to 80 series rollover ( a famous spot if anybody knows Menai Sydney ) and came across their stolen vehicle. I was with the zook club and we all felt their pain and disappointment once we had located the vehicle. Although most of our everyday items are covered by insurance, there a some things money can never replace. Sorry i have always had attachments to my cars. My old Holdens (FC, FB and EJ) where part of me, my personality, thsese things can never been replaced.
