as a former Jeep owner that doesn't surprise me one bit.

heres a thread http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...t=82194&page=2 from a year ago about jeep quoting $44k for a new engine.

and some of the diesel owners find it cheaper to source engine parts from Mercedes than go through Jeep dealers...

    But they are great 4wds.

Yes, that's right. Next to Landrovers, they make the closest thing to an agricultural tractor that you can buy.

Do you really think the prado engine is going to be much different??
At 9k for a set of injectors the whole engine would have to be 30k + for a new one
And I just got mine fixed at the panel beaters, 2 side steps and a rear bumper and a few scratches 7.5k bill to the insurance company

Unfortunately they are all expensive to repair

no idea how much any engine costs. but i wouldnt have thought that an engine out of a $50-60k vehicle would costs $44k.

I only visit there occasionally these days. the guy battled with the dealer and DC for close to 4 months and eventually they replaced the engine.

If that is the case, you need to get affordable jeep parts. I saw the stocks at carstuff and I think you might like them. Maybe, you might get interested in jeep accessories too.

There-in lies the debate:- how much to insure the Jeep compared to insuring the Prado.
(BTW, My insurance company gave me a quote last week for the Prado - at $1000+ it was 79% higher than my traded 4cyl turbo diesel. That was a shock. Shopped around & got it from RACQ at the same as previous vehicle)
