I read a magazine a while ago that had an article about touring tents and showed pictures of each tent and the pros and cons about each one but for the life of me I can not find it or even remeber which one it was in. Has anyone else read the same article (would have been in last couple of months) and if so do you rember which magazine it was in? :?

Not specifically answering your question ( coz I don't know )

BUT.... after trying and looking at many others, ( Blackwolf, OzTent etc etc ) ..... we keep going back to our Southern Cross touring tent.
We know we can depend on it to stay up and us dry in all weathers and is a 5 minute job to erect for the night. ( we also have the side pole kit to do away with the centre pole if needed.)
    Cheers, Wayne

I'll second this endorsement of Southern Cross tents. We still have our Ultimate Deluxe tent as a back up, despite now owning a camper trailer. Prior to the camper trailer, our Southern Cross tent never let us down and was very easy to use/set-up.

We have an Outdoor Connection "Tanbar" touring tent and I can use either the centre pole or the inside ridge pole. We use 2 x kingsize stretchers and there is still room to get dressed or store stuff. I am 6ft 3" and it is tall enough for me to stand easily in the main part of the tent. Great tent in all weathers and packs away to a flat easily stored package. Extra airflow windows make it very cool and airy in warmer weather. In winter shut it all up and it is snug. Simple to erect. 3 year warranty.
            Height 210cm
            Width 265cm
            Length 375cm
I think I paid about $350 for mine some 12 months ago.

I have no connection to the copmpany. I can happily recommend it.

              Re: Touring Tents

Thanks for the replies. I have found the magazine in question now. I am leaning towards a Blackwolf Turbo Plus, not sure which size as of yet. We need to fit two adults and two kids. Wife likes the idea of the two room set up and the walls being straighter. I just want something that is tall enough for me at 6'6". Nearly went Oztent but after reading more and seeing both it came down to just the one. It will be a canvas one, just need to decide whether it is the 240 or 300.

                Re: Touring Tents

FWIW, we went for the 240 Turbo Plus Lite.

Reasons for going lite were weight, price, and the fact that it is an occasional use tent. 2 + 2 works just fine, and having the two 'rooms' suits family members who need a bit of privacy.
