Maybe Toyota Australia should do this with a demo car at a nominated place (there are several in Brisbane), invite owners and the media, and put the whole story to bed.

Not to mention all those vehicles with a more than 2 inch (50mm) lift that are not engineer approved. Or those twats with severely overloaded roof-racks.

        1. Maybe this is what you get when you take a well engineered vehicle and throw a V8 in the front... to get more sales... (Toyota greed maybe)

        2. I am also suspicious of the US Gov (NTSB)... who own GM now, not to mention that there would be a lot of individuals that would not like that fact that GM ( a great US icon ) went bust, after a foreign manufacturer knocked them from No. 1. The Media as well... hardly any coverage about the massive (1.3 million cars) GM recall in the US, which GM quickly blamed on a component supplier partially owned by Toyota...

        3. Remember the out of control Prius story that went really quiet after the cars computer was interrogated and it turned out that driver fabricated the whole thing... (lets sue Toyota for a quick buck).

But who knows whats really going on...

As I said in my earlier post, there is not a vehicle on the road that has stability control which is capable of bringing back-off oversteer under control as it requires the application of power. More power is the last thing engineers want to introduce into a scenario where a car is out of control. Current stability control systems may apply brakes if and after the rear wheels have regained grip, which is too late. This is the case for all cars fitted with stability control.

The problem for Toyota is how to manage public perceptions in getting this message across without appearing to dodge the claims of that magazine.
