i got the 64gig 3G version as a farewell gift from work earlier this week. Ive only spent a day and a half with it as Im currently overseas but here are a few things i noticed in that short time:
-smaller and lighter than I thought, so ideal for carrying it with you when youre out and about
-cant be used as a storage device for photos and video (but you can view them and save them in a lower quality) which is why i brought my laptop on holidays, not the ipad.
-most apps arent ipad compatible yet. They work but theyre only in iphone screen size. some apps have an iphone version and an ipad version but im not sure how that will work with syncing...
-telstra and optus' ipad sim cards are ridiculous in value for money; vodafone is more reasonable.
-ive already got a macbook pro and iphone so the ipad, really, is unnecessary. the 3 of them overlap in functions; the ipad 3G owns the other 2 if you need internet on the move with a decent screen. in my situation i wouldnt have bought one but now that Ive got one Im happy with it and will use it in all its glory.

I bought a 64gb wifi model for our recent trip through the Simpson for my 6 year old boy to use. It had all his movies ripped onto it as well as all my music.
I also had around 40 game apps loaded.
This was his complete entertainment centre for the trip. He could switch between the games or movies at will and with noise canceling headphones he actually was a lot more rested at the end of the day.
The batteries last all day even when watching movies which is excellent. The Bluetooth connected with my stereo so we could use it for the music as well if wanted ( I tended to use the iPhone for that though )
I went with the wifi only model to prevent the boy from downloading everything while away from home but with our home wifi network it is the easiest way to access the web as it's always on due to it's low power consumption.
Now that ram have a mount for it I will be mounting two in the rear seats for the kids on trips. That way they can play or watch movies as they please.
And you can download pictures to it bult you need to buy an additional plug to adapt for sd cards.
i'm keen to get one and slowly ticking off the list of reasons NOT to buy one. i've got a tablet netbook that i use for work taking notes and marking up documents etc, heard of an app that lets this happen now so i'm getting keener and keener... and waiting for software version 4 so they can multitask.. then just have to justify the price.... which is freaken ridiculous!

My wife thought i bought it for me as a toy and she never puts it down it is ideal for us. And i wouldnt hesitate getting another one in the future. In the near future i will be gettingh the vms mapping thats now available as well it looks great for $195.00 8)

i bought the 32GB 3g one back in September. it's pretty cool. managed to find a decent stylus and a few notepad apps so have done away with paper at work. and an endless supply of other apps for work and entertainment. Plus a heap of movies loaded on it for when i'm flying places for work, and cartoons for when i'm driving places with the kids.
Am waiting for the new one though, this one will become the property of wifey dearest and it'll be time to upgrade!
I got a 64g 3g iPad about 2 months ago. In that time I have barely used eiher the laptop or PC at home, this thing is just so easy to live with. All I use it for is web, mail, and entertaining the kids. I have an app for remote login to my office but I rarely use that as I prefer to do my work at work.
Plenty of apps available and more being developed all the time.

I purchased a 64gb 3G iPad in July prior to going on a trip around Aussie for a few months. The best purchase I've made!!
My wife was sceptical but now agrees that it also helped her survive the trip & I have to fight now I'm home to get a go at the iPad!!
I used a laptop previously & although I still had it on this trip it was hardly ever used.
The iPad was used for: photos, internet use, emails, doing a daily blog with photos for the family, spreadsheets, phone calls (used Skype which was great & really good reception), facebook etc, heaps of games, navigation, mapping etc etc..
I used the Telstra Next G & the reception was great. We also have 2 Next G mobiles & the iPad had reception in many places when the mobiles didn't. Love the iPad,
Willy
