      Hi people,
My career of choice is Crane Operating. The company that I work for is in the general crane hire industry. This has its challenges as we can be lifting and shifting anything
from Boab trees, to Queen Victoria's statue, to heavy industustrial equipment, to Father Christmas and anything you could possibly think of.
The great part of this line of work is the people you meet on the job and the various locations we get to work around the City and the
state, My favorite being the off road locations, where there is opportunity to engage the diff lock and four wheel drive for some 25 tonne Franna Action.
It feels rewarding driving past a job with the family and telling them about how we lifted or installed something that will be there for years to come.
Some jobs are slow, so I get time to ponder the next Prado mod. or plan the next trip.

        Hi all,

I scab off the rest of ya tax paying pawns with Government payouts every week  :P :P

I'm a student at the moment at RMIT uni studying a science degree in Photography (read: Scientific Photography) which can lead to all sorts of things e.g. vehicle crash test high speed photography, forensic, ballistic, medical, aeronautical test, defence forces image analysis (spy stuff) etc.

I plan to work in medical photography which includes skin cancer histories, plastic surgery imaging, theatre records for histories, education etc, opthalmic diagnosis photography and plenty of other weird stuff.
I currently do part time volunteer work for Austin Health (Austin, Royal Talbot & Austin Repatriation Hospitals) & Royal Melbourne Hospitals.

Previously: Surveying, Structural steel drafting, fruit tree nurseries photographer, picture framer for photographer.

Hopefully this time next year I'll be making money to do up the Prado!

Why is it that everyone else's job always sounds far more interesting than your own ?

            Hi all,
Electronics Technician by trade for around 10 years before moving in teaching for around 8. Now I plan and write maintenance documentation, its pretty dry stuff but the hours are good so I get plenty of time with my wife and four kids.

Enjoying retirement after 36 years with Education Queensland as a Teacher, Deputy Principal and Principal. I would have liked to have had my Prado when I was in a one-teacher school in NW Queensland (if you are travelling between Richmond and Julia Creek you will go past Maxwelton, the school is closed but still standing) as the "major highways" still had many gravel sections and they took their toll on my Datsun 180B!!
After watching my superannuation go south I have recently qualified as a Civil Marriage Celebrant and also picked up a job as a returning officer with the Queensland Electoral Commission.

                Hey people,
thought id throw a bit of a 4x4 angle at this!
                Grew up in Sydney,no 4wding!
Moved to Gloucester,NSW to a farmstay resort on 1500 acres of mountainous countryside taking guests on horse rides and 4wd tours of the property.Lots of creek crossings, hillclimbs and high country.Had new Landrover Discovery and TD Defender to play with as well as dirt bikes and big 4WD FIAT tractor.Heaven!
Learnt alot about steep hillclimbs and vertical limits. Also had a couple of old Land Rover paddock bashers which just would not die.
Left and started my career in civil construction in Forster,NSW which put me in the seat of many 4WD utes on the sand.
Moved to Newcastle still in construction,4WD backhoes, excavaters, front end loaders etc.
Still in construction now as a foreman, currently on F3 Freeway south of Hawkesburry River.Always interresting testing out 4WD company utes,Hi-Lux,Navara and currently Rodeo, love it when it rains!
Nothing beats coming home and jumping in the Prado with the wife and 2 kids and heading up to Stockton beach or Barrington Tops etc in comfort with the power under foot Bla,bla bla. sorry fellas, just had a moment there!

                  Hey there,

I am a marine pilot in sydney, this means that I am part of samll group of people that are resposible for ensuring the ships that carry your new plasma / LCD TV's, crude oil, and up until recently all the new prados (and other cars) etc get in and out of Sydney Harbour and Port Botany safely. It is one of those jobs where you just love going to work. Even though it is 24/7 operation and we work on a 2hr call system, I only have to work evry second week and also get some annual leave as well. The down side, is climibng up a rope ladder attached to the side of the ship in 8 metre seas, when it is dark wet and windy in the middle of winter with no safety harness on (not sure if mister OH&S would like this). The upside is getting to paid to work of Sydney harbour and being able to live at Nelson Bay.

                  Cheers

                    hi,
i work in the mining industry, i am wha they call a dispatch technician, in other words i make sure the big yellow dump trucks go the right way in a mine and the massive shovels dig all the right dirt to produce gold, and do it all from a computer in an office, pretty interesting job but stare at a screen all day, it all involves $$$$$, if machinery sit idle it costs money so its my job to make sure it all runs all the time.. used to drive the big 793c dump truck, that was a lot of fun.

oh well my 2 cents worth

When thinking about the best job... the following two sayings springs to mind:

"Find out what you like doing best and get someone to pay you for doing it"; and

"Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life".

I am a civil engineer working for a consulting firm in Perth. Worked for QR for 25 years around North Qld, then in NSW for a while, a while in London with London Underground and now 3 years in Perth. All the time involved with railways. Have a daughter in UK (problem living OS, kids meet locals ) and one back in NQ. Thinking that it is about time to retire, but super keeps going backwards.

Have a Prado on order (Delivery 29 April).
Dune colour GLX with Option pack, Bull bar, Tow bar, Cargo barrier.

Im a Network Engineer. I went to uni for 5yrs, started working in the IT Industry - then figured out I absolutely HATED what I was doing.

Worked on and off in various IT companies, and finally pulled the plug on it around 2 yrs ago. I wiped my memory clean and joined a mate of mine in a New Car Parts business...and in the last 12 months we have also started up a wrecking yard.
Might get into wrecking Prado's one day

                                Hi all,
New to Pradopoint, I am an Electrical Supervisor on a Iron Ore minesite just out of Newman WA. Have been in this role for around 5 years now. The site is residential so wife and 2 daughters live in Newman which is a bonus. Recently sold 99 Grande and purchase 2008 GXL, have done quite a few mods and will throw some pics on rig buildups when I figure out how too. Have 1967 XR Falcon, 2008 LTR450 Quad, Travelmax offroad camper and a few other toys in the shed, most pretty handy in the pilbara as there is a lot of places to go and see if you are keen to get out and have a look. Love this site as there is so much good info available from people wanting to acheive the same outcome.
                                Thanks
