          • I'm a transplanted Canuck - but made an Aussie of myself in '07.

Currently employed as "ICT Network and Hardware Support Officer" at a council here in Tasmania. Don't ask me about the title - truth be told, I seem to deal with anything that draws power.

Though, automotive electrical seems to elude me....even though it is DC!

The Demag is a good lifter though the superlift system isn't as friendly to use as the big Manitowoc 18000 Max-er we used in the pic I posted. I got to see a CC8800 in action in the good old US of A as well as a Mani 21000 Max-er. Those things demand RESPECT!

We had two Mani 2250s on the same job as the 18000 and prior to that ran a 2250 in Ringer configuration.

EDIT: we used the CC 2600 on a past job, same same as the 2800 though better controls.

Yeah they are big lifters! I havent really played with big crawlers, we dont lift anything that heavy I guess. Girders are really the biggest we lift and I havent seen many over 70-80tn.

The mobile Terex AC500 that we used at Ballina was a fantastic crane! Setup with 180tn of counter weight we could do a full de rig, move and re rig with luffing fly in a little over 4hrs. It was a great crane to use for that type of work, every day and a half we needed to move into a different position for the next span. If you look in the first picture from Ballina, you can see a big concrete slab on the river side of the crane. We had to construct a 450mm thick slab with piles under each outrigger position (10) because of the soft ground just to sit the crane on. In 6 girders (1 and a half days) it was then obosolete so we had to break it out in under 12 hrs before the next lift. It was good fun!

                          • I'm in the engineering and manufacturing industry.
I am a fitter and machinist by trade, and have been programming and setting high end CNC Turning Centres and Machining Centres since I was a second year apprentice.

For the last 14 years I have been in sales working for the largest machine tool supplier in Australia and I'm currently the Queensland Manager for the CNC Division.
This involves looking after the sale, delivery, training, and after sales service of CNC Machinery. I'm often travelling all over the state and my job has also taken me to many Asian countries including South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and then I've also been to the USA.

Here are a few pics of the machinery I sell...

                            I also program these,

                            Cheers,
