      • Today I was training some work colleagues in four wheel driving. After losing the sidestep off the Colorado yesterday, today the check engine light came on. Game over for the Holden. Took it to the dealer at lunch time and they told me it had a pile of recalls anyway. So, being one car down I volunteered the Prado. Here's what happened when an English import baulked on a little hill. I love getting paid to do this stuff.

            • Bit of an unknown of this forum but I'll let you know anyway.
I'm an IT professional in system administration for the last 12 years, but last year gave it the flick for a bit of a change. Moved into security here in Darwin. Cant say much more except it involves people that don't arrive here by plane Hoping to make the move sometime next year into some sort of government security or policing role.

              • Hey all,

Picked up my third Prado a few week's back and thought I needed to join a community of like minded individuals.

For my day job I am also an IT professional. After seeing the light I changed careers a few years back from Science teaching and now work as the Director of ICT at a large independent School in Brisbane. With the Digital Education Revolution changing the landscape over the last few years I get to lead a team that manages a computer network of about 2000 systems. Keeps me on my toes and off the street, but also off the tracks

                • I started off as a house painter. Did that for a couple of years then moved to Melbourne where I worked as a car salesman for a while. I moved back home and continued to paint houses for a while, then went into the retail side of paint, working in the local Solver depot.

In 2006 I went for what could possibly be my last career change. I joined the R.A.N. as an Avionics technician, and havent looked back. That was definitely the best move I have made to date. I love my job (though it does have its moments), maintaining an aircraft is a real eye opener.

Funny though how the painting seems to keep coming back around..... "Bundy, could you come and have a look at this for me?" Once a painter always a painter I guess

You wouldn't be too busy then, would you? I mean, how many aircraft does our navy have now, a couple of Orions, a handful of choppers.

LOL! Shhh! One of my bosses might be reading.

No Orions, they're all RAAF. We have enough choppers, more than some think.

                              • So another tough day at the office. Some guys asked if I could run them through some 4WD training. They supplied their own LC 200 V8 diesels - how could I say no. These things are amazing off-road with so much torque. I got them to rely on the engine and auto trans and not on the traction control/hill descent.

So, how do you stop 3000-odd kilos of V8 brute?

Easy, put a water trap in his way.

No traction control or V8 power is going to get this thing moving now. I got him to winch himself out using another 200 series as an anchor.
