There's actually a bit of a story behind my nick ... although the origin is pretty obvious (Simon => Sim') ... I wrote about it on my blog way back: http://www.simonhampel.com/sim-rhymes-with-time/

I got mine from a few blokes I hung around in my early 20's. I think it was about me being off my face most of the time, back then... being stitched was their term for being trashed...

Vanilla Ice sings "Ice-Ice-baby" which roughly translates to S-S-baby (at the time I bought my SS Commodore).

            Not very good, I know!

where did you get your nick

Mine came from this big fat lady in our street who had taken a shine to me. She once grabbed my cheek (face) and said to me, "your my silver fox". I have never forgotten that, and now at 55 I am a silver fox

Mine came about when I was header driving in the WA wheatbelt some years ago. Some other fool within CB radio range had the same name as me and we kept getting calls mixed up. Peed the guy off no end I might add. Never did find out who it was though. Probably just as well.

So our family were all Footrot Flats comic strip fans. Those familiar with the Footrot Flats comic will know that one of the dog's many names is the Iron Paw. A local do gooder and nemeis of evildoers. The coolest sheepdog on the planet. The name became my CB radio callsign and has been my online name ever since.

Some other fool must must have had it once on a forum I joined so I had to capitalize, put in a dash, and spell it with 2 w's so I could use it. It's stuck that way ever since. Sometimes people simply shorten it to "Paws" or "IP".

Well lets see, I got my name from a mad Columbian who I worked with in NSW. He point blankly refused to know my real name and just called the Big Fella. It is because when I worked with him I was, well, lets say a little on the large size (slimmer now though). Since then it has kind of stuck with me. So there you have it. Nothing interesting.

                          Regards,

I got mine from my numberplate, BRA-55H. I've made it as a combination of my sons names (Bradley and Sean), but a lot in the 4WD club couldn't get past the BRA part so I ended up, after some deliberation, with Lacey.
