Have just spent good money replacing the exhaust with a Beaudesert system, and was considering a Steinbauer chip v soon. Not gonna get much value out of these if it all comes to an end in under a years time.
If the worlds coming to an end; no point in having any money in the bank then. I reckon i should blow it all on the Prado and go round OZ for a year

    Cheers Andrew

In that case, I'll whack it all on the credit card, have a fantastic time, and won't have to worry about the bank chasing me next year??!!

We got QLD with the flooding and Cyclones (Thank goodness most people are still with us) flooding in VIC and some of NSW flooding up north of WA, a cyclone that nearly hit Perth which is a WTF moment then the next week where i live, Kelmscott Roleystone Hill we had the fires so did the people living in the swan valley... we are only 6 weeks or so into the year... what else is to come?

I don't know anybody that hasn't been effected by all these events in some way or another with personal experiences or family and friends going through it.... I hope mother nature jumps off her high horse some time soon....

      thanks

Strong La Niņa event persists in the Pacific
Issued on Wednesday 2 February 2011 | Product Code IDCKGEWWOO
Australia continues to feel the effects of one of the strongest La Niņa's on record. During La Niņa events, tropical cyclone numbers are typically higher than normal during the November to April period, while summer daytime temperatures are often below average, particuarly in areas experiencing excess rainfall.
Climate indicators of ENSO continue to indicate a strong, mature La Niņa, although there are clear signs the event has passed its peak. Pacific Ocean temperatures have increased, especially below the surface, while atmospheric indicators such as the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI), trade winds and cloud patterns have eased from their peaks reached about a month ago.
These observations are consistent with long-range forecast models surveyed by the Bureau which show the Pacific gradually warming during the southern autumn. Given that March to June is the ENSO transition period, there is a spread among the model predictions for the middle of 2011. The most likely outcome is for a return to neutral conditions, but there is a chance of La Niņa persisting for the rest of the year.
The influence of the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on Australian rainfall is limited during the months from December through to April.

That all sounds scientificly correct, but to us uneducated plebs, the translation, according to Tony Abbott, is "sh1t happens...."

Nature's way of cleaning out the joint and flushing all that junk out to sea.

Re: I have a question... What is with all the disasters in Aus?

My point is just that - nature will eventually eradicate all traces of man-made intervention on this planet - whether it's by flood, fire or famine.

Of course, if you've ever been to Fiztroy Crossing up in the Kimberley, when the mighty Fitzroy floods she washes a couple of million empty VB cans out into the ocean. Years ago, one of the skylab crew posted a photo of the green shimmer resulting from the shear volume of green cans discarded around the crossing. Along came the flood and washed it all away. This process is repeated annually.

And yes, climate is always changing. Has done for millennia and will do for millions of years to come and nothing that man can do to stop that process. You only have to drive around this part of Oz where 3.5 to 4 million years ago there were mighty eruptions which spewed out all the minerals, including gold, that we are digging up today. All those mountains, volcanoes and ancient rivers are long gone.

If you want to stand in the way, build a house on a river flood plain, or near the beach or high up on a hill surrounded by trees then you better be prepared for the inevitable flood or fire. April last year I discovered that I live right on top of the Adeline fault line and watched the "p" wave come down my street. I was lucky to only suffer a dropped ceiling but other buildings in Kal/Boulder were not so lucky.

Life goes on (for now) however.

Hey, Bushy, I see that you are really prepared, living in that cave, you know the one in your photo. Let's hope all those tinnies are empty, you know the one's getting carried out to see. I will be pretty bloody upset if they're not. As a group (humans) we all think that nature is somehow separate over there type stuff, look at that photo of nature isn't it beautiful, it won't happen to us and of cause it does. This attitude makes me sad, that's why I go 4wding to get away from it. Us 4wders aren't like that, we know what makes us happy, those wide open spaces where the horizon seems to go on forever. Those green mountain tops that we call mud and rainforest, those memories that are burnt into our DNA like an outback sunset that makes us who we are. Anywhere we can breath clean air and drink clean water out of a stream or waterhole. Camping, being one with nature and loving her like it is supposed to be. You know disasters will come and go, as will politicians, and we will loose friends along the way on life's path, but as long as we have this, our connection, we will be alright.
Jeez, I might have to get the tissue box out if you keep writing stuff like that. It's all so true, though and there's many out there that don't acknowledge nor respect what nature has to offer.

I'm supposed to be driving up through the Gt Central Road and surrounding communities this weekend but the rain and water has seen all the roads closed with more bad weather on the way.

Nah, I ended up in the Wild West Saloon at the Exchange last night drinking bundy and chatting to the skimpies. When I got home, a little after midnight (in a cab) I couldn't get my front door key out of my jeans fob pocket. Woke the missus up after I set the dog off barking. Might have to go and play in the mud tomorrow.
