It does, thanks for that. We'll be camping at other places along the OTT such as Cockatoo Ck, Sam Ck, Dulhunty River. I couldn't find anywhere online to pre-book for these so didn't.

A quick trip report, palm creek entry and exit is hard, needed to winch out and Nolans was soft, drowned the Prado and stuffed the electrics. Was the 2ND vehicle to be written off this year at nolans and only the 11th to go thru, a bad sad day, the rest of the Ott is easy. pictures to follow when I get home, km looking for a new Prado now. Not the write up I expected to do. Need to change my signature now as well.

Sorry to hear that. These tracks can be pretty rough sometimes

That's sad news. How deep was Nolans?

Derek, that's a bummer. Well, the trip report is going to be especially action packed when you get to writing up the Nolan's crossing. May as well squeeze what good you can from a difficult situation . I hope it works out for you in the long run.

                  Derek

I, as others posters before me, am sorry to hear about your Prado.
If there's one consolation to be had from this, it is that your Prado died doing what you loved & still do love I hope.

I too, hope that you are able to claim on insurance.

                  Cheers

I may be a bit "soft" but for that very reason my plan is to give Nolans a flick and head across to the PDR just before Nolans when we head up to the Cape in 6 weeks time.

I am going up with a small group, 3 Prado's and a Triton and collectivly we have decided it's just not worth the risk!!

Pleased to hear the rest of the OTT is pretty good, and very sorry to hear of your problems Derek I do hope it's all claimable on insurance.

I'm really sorry to hear that Derek. It's a shame & I hope you bounce back with another vehicle soon. With all due respect because Derek had the guts to do it, I too also decided long ago to avoid/chicken out on Nolan's. We're also taking the PDR just before Nolan's to continue north up to the Jardine the same as Mark from Brisbane mentioned. When you hear report after report and see that 1 in every 4 cars on average get stuck in Nolans, I figured it's just not worth the risk. My mate was glad when I told him "I'm not crossing Nolans." We'll camp on the northern side of it on our way back south and I'd love to see other cars do the crossing. But no amount of coaxing in the world could get me to drive it.

I look forward to the trip report, Derek. It'll be a cracker.

This is just before I got stuck . I was probably out within a minute I would do nolans again as long as theres someone there to help my father pulled me out with his challenger he drove straight through .Next time I think I would just have the snatch strap already on the other car and just pull from the start . The floor got a little wet but dried the car up at Seisa with the seats out and carpet up.

Crossing before Nolan's that would be a long strap it's alot wider than Nolan's
Derek sorry to hear about you car I was panicking when the water was running in the car and thought that's it the car is stuffed

Derek I had water in all the footwells I think the only thing that may of saved me was the car was leaning to the passenger side . There was defently more water on the passenger side . I hope the car has been running ok been over 15000 k's since I was up there . I was amazed as not one bit of water was in the car before that . I had every intention to blue Tac the doors up but never did and like you would of seen Derek the moment you stopped it was coming in through the doors alot and very fast .
This was Easter and still can't stay away from water

Derek how long before you got pulled out for me it wasn't more than a minute I think I find the video. Some of the other crossings I did are on YouTube

they tell me i was stuck for about a minute before snatched thru, like you the water on the passenger side was 2" above the seat base and on my side just under or at, it seemed like en eternity that i was stuck but time slowed right down when water started flowing in.
