The Annual Pradopoint GTG for 2012 required a recce to investigate potential tracks for varying difficulty levels (towing) to transverse the Ngarkat section, prior to the actual GTG.

    Track Difficulty:
We completed the tracks which ranged from easy to hard with a camper trailer, and a Jayco Swan Outback

Meet at: Pertendi Hut Good Friday 2012

    Weather:
The weather was sunny and hot on day one, but we experienced heavy winds, light rain and COLD nights during the weekend

    UHF channel 11

    Attendees:
    big-trev
    boomer52

    No Shows:
iantz something to do with data cabling the house
AJ120 seems he was busy (just a little) with Madigans Line
sapradogxl was performing his own recce at Coffin Bay
    MidLifeCrisis was 'not available'
    no other apologies received

Pertendi Hut was selected as it was central to the centre track.

Ngarkat was only opened for the year on 1 April so it did have a reasonable amount of traffic on all tracks.

In all a great weekend putting our Prados and camper trailer/Swan Outback through a bit of punishment!

Big Trev staked a tyre on the Jayco on Saturday, most likely as the track of the wheels was outside that of the vehicle, and
the tracks have occasional broken stumps on the track extremities. We left the trailers at Doggers Hut, and continued onto
the Border Track to Red Bluff.

We returned to Doggers Hut and stayed there overnight.

Sunday we left Doggers Hut and travelled the border track to Shaugh Track and back up to Comet Bore.
Talking to Rangers had given us the heads up of this large camp area (without longdrop) that could
potentially accomodate a very large group.

These are great pictures to show what we will be going through and what to expect. We are following all the threads to do with the GTG so we have an idea of what to expect. Keep up the great work.

Real glad you guys went ahead with this recce. So I take it there were no real problems towing the trailers through these tracks? No-one got stuck?

                Nice work Denis.

A belated apology for me, was doing the family thing and apparently all rabbits now bring chocolate my kids tell me.

Look like you and Trev had a successful trip - can I see a full-size pop-top in the second to last photo?
                Cheers

No but a few of the sandhills beyond Pertendi track were rippers, and we used the alternate track when we were towing using a spotter at the top. Beyond Shaugh track there were a few more but one of them had no alternative. Didn't tow trailers beyond Shaugh track.

Yep thats Trev's Jayco Swan Outback. Big Trev staked a tyre on the Jayco on Saturday, most likely as the width of the track of the wheels was outside that of the vehicle, and

No, apologies as that is a poptop van at Comet Bore, which is accessible from the bitumen!

Hi every one have been very busy cleaning up since getting back.As per Dennises Thread I blew out a tyre.I think that I had too little of air pressure. The tyres were down to 16 psi,After the blowout I took them up tp 20 and did not have any more problems. The tracks that we covered were very easy.I only got stuck on one but dropping into low range second gear pulled the van over no problems. From Shank track to red bluff camp ground would have been a challenge. But with the Jayco we thought it may be too much of a risk especially that one of the hills had no chicken track. But on that the centre track was easy so most of the cars and trailers will be able to do it
