But then we could all get the sticker that says I crossed the Pieman on the Fatman.

Being west coast its likely to be wet as well! I agree though, great country through that area.

    Cheers Andrew

Please dont use the words "pie" and "GTG" in close proximity as it may offend some 2012 GTG viewers.

This sounds very interesting. Will see how we go when over in January. If the handbrake is happy with what we get up to I know she will be keen to go again. We have plenty of family and such on that side of the country. Who knows with the right phone call to the right people and with the right amount of attendees the price for the spirit may end up a little more affordable. We booked ours back in oct and I got 2 adults 2 kids and the car return for $642.

I'm looking at going feb 2013.

The pricing i was given yesterday, for a day trip is $128 per person.
Add $89 for your vehicle. That is each way.

I knOw they rip u a new one for trailers, but how's it $400 for the Prado?
Is that return? Or at Christmas?

Just an update so you don't think we are just sitting back down here in Tasmania relaxing.

The committee has been out and about searching for tracks that might just be suitable for the 2015 GTG. Some have been found that will be of some fun and will let all those who might just come the chance to experience what Tassie does have to offer, rainforests to sand and everything inbetween.

The thoughts at this stage is that it will fit in with most states school holidays, be it at the start or the end of their holidays.

When I get a chance I will post up some trip reports for those that might just becoming south before 2015 so you to can experience the wonder that is Tasmania.

                      See ya in Tassie. Richo.
PS; We are going for 4 weeks so I'm sure I will be able to suggest some sopts.
Just an update and some info to do with the boat.......(possibly a small amount more than not helpfull)
The boat, have vehicles lenth listings and have the Prado as 4.85mt in lenth,
They allow up to 5.3 mtrs before they charge extra.
There is a tick box for if you have a towbar or bullbar, then its $10 extra.
I was told "if the total is still less than 5.3mt dont tick the box".
Standard height is up to 2.1mts, if your over tick the box for over height, this will not cost extra, its just space is limited.
Im 2085mm with roof rack no load, so i ticked it, 1 month before our departure and space was fine so we can load up.
(we booked in mid jan for 24th feb departure)
If the height was not available, I would just fitt the roof stuff in the vehicle till we got off the boat, or drop tyres to 10psi lol........
we waited for the usual special we take at late notice: this year red hot $65.00pp each way day sail = tassie is a cheap trip.
Its $89 extra to add the vehicle each way, (usual price) if you are over 5.3 it will be more.
If you take your boat or any trailer you will PAY.
We are going in feb this year, because its a fact the best weather in Tassie (based on climate and experience) is:
Jan & Feb, (more sun, more heat, least rain.) we choose Feb as everything is cheaper, eg, boat, and accomodation if you use it.
Was planning to go again for longer next feb 2014, if the gtg is late Jan (the last week) that could be good.....
every time we go in feb its nice about 25 degrees and cant remember any rain -usually about 10 day trips.

Anyway just some infor that will be pretty useless to some, but i hope many learnt something from it.

                        Hi All,

                        Count me in!

I have a confession - I too have be unable to turn the Prado South!!
It only wants to North for some reason.

So, bring on 2015 in Tassie. That way I will finally make it to Port Arthur as well, and also check out the excellent seafood on offer.

Tassie is a nice place. Went there with the people from xr6t forum when I got mine in 04. Everyone had a good time. Unfortunately, my gallery got corrupted and haven't got a chance to put them back. Just attach some photos though.

Sorry VK but have been a tad busy moving house. As previously mentioned at the 2012 GTG we wouldn't miss it for the world, nor would our feral yard apes let us miss it. So this has definitely been put on the calendar for 2015 and we aren't particulary fussed whether it'll be during school holidays or not because although schooling is important these are experiences they can't get at school. We might have to come over a few days early though for some more personalised hospitality and help out with final bits and pieces as required.
