There's plenty of bypasses for all of the worst crossings for exactly the reasons you mention. I'd be looking for the same, new fourbies just don't mix with water the way old ones do!

Well I did the Tele track and Frenchmans track in a two week (one day old when we left Sydney) old stock Prado with Cooper ST's and a snorkel in 2008. Never got a drop in the car. Just check out the crossings, be careful and be prepared to chicken out if it looks too daunting. - It didn't look that way for me.
New cars are better sealed and their parts are less likely to break down due to wear. 2008 was a dry year, but who knows what 2013 will be like. You won't regret attempting the Telegraph, its fascinating. Well worth a go. Heaps of variety in the crossings. It seems like you guys are going at a good time of year - wish I was going too
Cheers
Greg - 08 D4D Prado,
Some trips done - Cape York, Fraser Island, Simpson Desert / Central Aust, Vic High Country.
I would love to come along , can you put me as a definite maybe.
Too far in advance at this point but I'm thinking it will be just me and jack my 8 yo son.
Have always been keen on this trip, should be great with other prado owners.
Cheers
Phil

I didn't get any water in my car last time I went up there until I stoped in the water . Don't have to be on the tele Track to do that.

Sounds great guys.
The Tele Track would definitely be the most interesting way to go, I'll just have to take one crossing at a time.
Any idea on minimum vehicle requirements or recovery equipment?
Bring on mid 2014!
Cheers,
Jeff
Jeff the Tele Track Changes in such a short distance and if you take it easy there is no reason not to do the whole lot .
The crossings the time of year that we are going i would expect to be higher than when i was up there last but walk every one good excuse to have a dip.
What you have in your signature looks fine .
minimum vehicle requirements or recovery equipment first post.

Ok - Read this and got a little excited. Just scanned the topic and i'll read it in full later when I get home from work.
In summary can someone confirm - 2 weeks for the Cape and whatever else travel time to get to Cairns which I'd probably smash out while managing fatigue accordingly over a 3 day period (9 hours a day) to get there.
Unless a group of PP members go up via sydney maybe that would be safer.
