that is a bit of good news, lets hope it comes true, just done a search on national parks website and aparently now you have to pay $10 per night perperson or $5 bucks per child per night to camp at polblue campin area, thats a bit steep if ya ask me, it wont stop me from goin though, i just thought i would say something

There is a comment along similar lines in this months 4x4 Australia mag. Parks are getting greedy! Closing more of them down to recreation whilst charging more for access to less public land! Somethings got to give sooner or later, its getting rediculous.

Did they just say Polblue or all of the Tops area. I never camp at Polblue because it tends to get overcrowded on good days and there is always the yobbo element to contend with. Much prefer the Water gauge area where there is plenty of room to spread out.

hey jacto where abouts is watergauge area, my old man took me to a place as i know as the watergauge, its in the gummi falls rd area. is that were you mean? the place im talkin about has nice steep climb down to a great campin area were the river wraps around the whole area and has a few nice swimmin holes and rapids. it backs on to o'hares property, my old man has the only map i know of that shows this track, it was an old logging track. Its has an old galvanised tank that must of been the watergauge.

                Hey Samo

We're still interested, we aren't too familiar with Barrington so whatever everyone else decides on is fine by us. 8)

                Cheers

                  Hi Samo

Yes that is the watergauge and one of the best spots for camping in Barrington. Don't know about O'Hares but I believe it backs on to some of Kerry packers property. Also caught trout in the river there and out of the way for most people to find easily. Camped there a few times now and from memory only ever had one other camper in the location.

maybe we should consider that as a daytrip/onite spot, you should be able to get there with the camper, providing it doesnt rain. you r right it is one of the best areas to stop over.

I am off to Brissy on the 6th but will be back on the 11th or 12th. I would not mind meeting up to say hi for a day out but I would not be able to do an overnighter at the moment with Hunter being so young.

Next imte we come down for an extended holiday, which probably will not be till 2009, I am hoping to get a boat. Then it would be great to organise a Myall GTG and do some boating etc. Would be great for a few of us with young kids to get together like this I reckon.
