STRING?Originally posted by craigm View PostHow long is a piece of string Anthony? With all the storm activity we have been having up here this Summer, it's hard to say. Really it's in the hands of mother nature to restore the shoreline... We were up there a couple of weeks ago and with some really high tides, there wasn't much beach to drive on so we headed down the Freshwater track which is a nice little drive in itself anyway..
I can cut it at whichever length you would like
"Some time" is exactly like that.
If I can't get an idea of: if your some time is 3 months, 3 years or 3 decades then I guess it's "some time".
I certainly would not be travelling all beaches at "really high tides". Low tides preferably on the run out is the go, You also need to take into account the current weather, wind direction and ocean swell.
Naturally we will be checking local info at the time, like I said thanks or the advance notice. I always say you can't have too much info.
Where do I look up up how long "some time?" I once met a girl that said "love you long time"n had the same trouble

Yeah, you still won't tell me how long it's been like this.Originally posted by craigm View PostGuys this was taken just over a week ago (6/3) This is the Noosa North Shore 1.5hrs before low tide. I have heard of a couple of 4wd clubs cancelling their events up there recently due to the lack of terra firma up that way...(that piece of string is getting longer!)

I wasn't asking how long it will be like that, I asked how long has it been like that. Anyway.......
I'd like to see it at high tide, because that bank looks untouched, very dry, because I'm such a dumb dumb I think that was high tide
It will be very interesting to see. Thanks again for the pic.
You have any of the stretch between double island and rainbow?

Beach and driving conditions (updated 09/03/2013)
Please note: Refer to public notice section above. Beach conditions change daily. This report is only a guide. Stay alert to hazards and drive to suit the conditions. Best beach driving times: 2 hrs either side of low tide under normal conditions. Inland tracks are rough: Only high clearance 4WDs are suitable; all-wheel drives; vehicles towing trailers, boats and vans may get stuck for hours and be damaged during recovery. For your safety: observe all signage, directions from rangers and never enter closed areas.
Beach hazards:Low-lying areas along the eastern beaches may still experience inundation due to continuation of large ocean swells. Exercise caution on inland tracks and beaches remaining vigilant for further fallen trees, beach debris and washouts.
Beach approximately 2 km north of the 3rd beach cutting and Teewah township on the Noosa North Shore: currently traversable with caution at low tide due to large sections of exposed coffee rock. Low clearance 4WD’s, all-wheel drives, vehicles towing trailers, boats and vans are not recommended.
Beach between Rainbow Beach and Leisha Track: currently impassable due to exposed rocks and fallen trees. Use Freshwater Road as an alternative route.
Teewah Beach and the eastern beach at Inskip: Erosion to the foredune complex has left steep, unstable slopes. Climbing on, sliding down or digging into them is dangerous and can lead to serious injury or death. Keep your children away from these areas.
Beach access tracks often have soft sand with deep ruts or wash-outs from high tides.
Washouts and beach debris: Beware! Deep washouts, trees and coffee rocks can be exposed at any time. Sand track hazards:
• Freshwater Road is open. Exercise caution – rough in sections. Low clearance vehicles, campers and trailers are not recommended.
• Harry’s Hut Road is open. Exercise caution – wet and very rough with washouts, deep ruts and potholes.
• Closed until further notice: Due to erosion caused by heavy rainfall Eastern Firebreak (Pettigrew’s Road)
and the Western Firebreak to King’s Bore Road—use Freshwater Road as an alternative route to access Teewah Beach.

Good :-)
Does anyone have a preference of UHF channel on the island? Best we sort that out now.....
My usual s 10, do we want to be on the same channel as the locals? Buses etc? So we know what's going on? From memory 18?
Correct me if I'm wrong...... Or pick our own?
I always prefer channels over 40, you get a lot less chatter. Can't do that unless everyone has upgraded to 80 channel.
Any ideas?
