  • Broome Caravan Parks

Putting my feelers out to those that have had good and/or bad experiences at any of the caravan parks in Broome. We will be staying there for nearly 4 weeks (mid May onwards).

Your recommendations will be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

You mean you haven't booked? Good luck with that. Cable Beach caravan park is great. I've stayed at the Broome Pistol Club overflow because getting a spot is very difficult unless you have booked 2 or 3 years in advance.

I know we are clutching at straws at trying to get in, but from previuous experiences the "nomads" dont roll into town until end of June / July.
It was also hard to book anywhere as I didnt know when my job was coming to an end, wich now I do

We arrived in broome in early june last year with no booking. There were spaces in all parks but the one at Roebuck bay was very crowded. We stayed at tarangau and liked the informality of it. Palm Grove was also fine and close to the beach. You can also stay at the Bird observatory but its a bit out of town. Good luck.

When we went to Broome we tried to book a few months in advance, every park in Broome told us they do not take bookings, even though we were willing to pay in advance and risk loosing our money if we failed to make it on time.

When we arrived; Broome was booked out, everything was full, all the over flow places full, not a square inch anywhere to set up the camper. We ended up at Roebuck plains roadhouse which is a reasonable way out of town.

We wasted a full day trying to find a place to stay and I was so pissed off that it took the shine off Broome for me, we stayed a few days and saw most of the main attractions but it was disapointing that we were unable to book and just slot stright into a nice spot.

Roebuck plains was pretty basic, everything you need but nothing to write home about.

          Cheers Andrew

Try http://home.vicnet.net.au/~badger04/ to help you make a desision.
Stayed at Cable Beach last year - very busy and $50 per day.
Have heard the are charging $55 this year! Don't know the prices of other parks. However bookings are advisable!

We stayed at Tarangau CP few years ago, and were able to pre-book, even in the high season.
A little further back off the beach but close enough to everything.
As said, more informal and friendly.
                  Good choice we felt.

We gave up and bit the bullet: just booked a self-contained apartment near Cable Beach, and weathered the cost... New, clean, but very pricey... approx $200/night!

Barn Hill is about 120kms from town but an ideallic spot to camp with a great beach and fishing spots. I suppose it just depends what you want to do or see in Broome but this is definately worth a visit for some quiet time

We camped in Broome once with our camper trailer/tent. A huge run-around beforehand because of no bookings. From then on, whenever we stayed in Broome, we always booked a self-contained unit near near the shops and pub, and only a short walk to the beach. No stress, all the conveniences, perfect location, and easy living. But it is pricey. We used the justification that we didn't stay 5-star anywhere else on our trip so the monies saved from camping was offset by the extra costs for Broome. And we did this for about 5 years in a row - even getting to book the same unit each time due to its perfect location.

                            Enjoy.
