Great trip report with photos Robert, looks like you had good weather, i've only been to Fraser Island once in a rental Suzuki 4x4 in 1989, it was windy and wet. The wreck has deteriorated alot since then, can't wait to do another trip there and show my wife this beautiful island.

    Cheers Derek

          Hey Rob,

Nice trip report, just what we need to get the vic's ( and others :-)) excited about our trip in a few weeks.
It looks like you had some very good weather & also very lucky for it to be so quiet, perhaps some bad weather and closures have scared a few away? I avoid holiday times but it always seems to be busy on the beaches.
I hope it's that quiet in 2-3 weeks & we can get some of that sunshine too! Nice old pic of the Maheno, do you know what year it landed there?
I've only ever seen it over the last 15 years, obviously it's been rusted pretty bad for a long time!
Very interesting some of those pics, the beaches have changed a lot with tides coming right up to the bank.
I think I'm going to be very surprised with the changes we see that have occurred in the last year or so.
We might have to try out that fush n chups, as I've never found any decent one in the state....

Good to see you enjoyed your trip!

            Hey Rob
Thanks for sharing your adventure. Stayed at the same place as you for my 30th with family. I too liked the fact that you could wash your car each afternoon, the accomodation was quite nice also. Dont recall going to Happy Valley, that place looked alright for a spot of lunch. Can't believe how much the beach has eroded.
Roll on Moreton in 4 weeks this report whilst on Fraser has me getting excited about similar beach driving.......

Thanks Robert...great report mate. Am thinking of heading up in early May...will probably miss the PP group from Vic going up there (but I still expect a full report boys!!!!) and your report answered plenty of my questions. Now I just need to book in a week of perfect sunshine hey!

                  ####,
We just seemed to be lucky re the weather and the crowds but there was a stream of people coming over as we were leaving for Easter.
1935. It has deteriorated substantially in the last 15 years but.
Hopefully the beaches will be more back to normal by the time you get there.
btw #### , also take some "Bushman Repellent", the Marsh flies were really out in force when we were there.
                  Enjoy your trip.

                  Shane,
I am also not keen to leave any salt water or spray on the Prado, so being able to rinse it every day was great.
Have fun at Moreton, I love it there. You feel a lot more isolated on the eastern beach of Moreton though due to a lot less people there.
Where abouts are you staying over there?
                  Cheers

Yeah, I think the BBB's = big biting bastards are the worst part of Fraser trips, constantly annoying. Ta.

If you are looking for a great insect repellant then you can go past "Natures Botanical Rosemary and Cederwood Creme" We first came across this at Tibooburra and the stuff is brilliant, never go bush without it. Added bonus especially fo rhte ladies is that it has a very pleasant smell.

I was also over there for Easter had a great time. Went to the tip and the rocks were much more dominant than ever before. My transmission bash plate got ripped straight off! Oh well no damage done
Great thread this one is! Great job with all the photos.

Looks like those rocks will be fun to navigate getting to the tip.
Now who said there's no challenge available?
What failed on he plate for it to come off? The high tensile bolts?

I was thinking of starting a Fraser Island photos thread? I reckon we'll have some great pics accumulated especially when the PP April trip group head up.
