Hi All.
Glad to see PradoPoint is still thriving these days. Been through the crapper in the last few years and now I'm all on my lonesome. Think cheating B***H and you've got the story.
Just looking at a possible trip across the Nullarbor, skip over the top of Melbourne and head into the Snowy River National Park area etc etc. Flown over Victoria before, and have been in Melbourne airport a couple of hours before, but I never got around to checking the place out properly. I was going to just fly to Melbourne, pick up a camper of some description and take a tour of the place. But then I got to wondering about what would happen if I wanted to go offroad, and with a perfectly good 120 sitting at home all lonely. Trouble is - I'll only have about 3 weeks max off work, and that's with me leaning on the boss pretty hard.
I was hoping someone would have a good method of driving across the Nullarbor and could recommend the good and not so good places to stop and overnight. Suggested itineraries so far...
Perth to Norseman via Coolgardie 723km
Norseman to Ceduna 1201km
Ceduna to Burra 669km
Burra to Albury 950km
That seems like a fair slog, and I think that might have been a truck driver who suggested that. 1200k's in a day? Bit of an ask for just one driver, but it'll get me there - ish in 4 days I suppose.
Another suggestion is
Perth to Norseman 723km
Norseman to Eucla/Border Village 722km
Eucla/Border Village to Ceduna 479km
Ceduna to Burra 669km
Burra to Albury 950km
Total - 3543KM
I just picked Albury as a spot close to where I want to be, but these places are just dots on the map to me at the moment. So any other route after Ceduna and I'm all ears. Didn't really want to tackle Adelaide or Melbourne's traffic if I could avoid it.
If there's good caravan parks or camping spots you guys can tell me about along the way then I'd really appreciate it. If I can avoid hotels and their hotel prices then I will.
