SEQ - Daytrip to Janowen Hills 4WD Park -Sunday 25th of August

Regrettably I got a bit of baby brain and forgot my camera..the mesh baby screen backs that up? Currently a lot of road works @ Aratula and this side of the gap so @ 5hr return trip, @$110 worth of diesel (3/4 of 1 tank)?? but it's not about that. I'll do it again but like hazza said combine it with a few days in Gordon country which is across the valley! The camping site was fullish, but apart form the training day in the wombat holes we only saw two other cars on the tracks. It's a good place to learn a few skills with experienced folks and Rob kindly assisted packing the winch cable which has been loose for @2years! It really is a two person job??

We both have TC models with centre diff lock and I went really for a potter....the park does have a buddy system, I was hearing the office on the UHF telling the loo cleaner to keep an eye on me (already signed in and at park)...I was waiting for a friend etc! These auto box diesels can chug round all day, it's really just the height that's the problem for the difficult tracks which I don't think we attempted! Wheel placement is main criteria. Park was mostly dry and will be bone by summer?

I've no better pics on my new phone...thanks Rob for the day out....I needed to get out....a very enjoyable day with lovely company. The views from the top (lunch) are excellent.

FWIW there is a 4x4 challenge (competition) on 26/27th October for all vehicles. Mentions a navi and helmets...time to soon pack your tent & get dirty!

That last pic of Charles driving up the hill is a cracker! It looks steep as hell in the picture, so I can only imagine what it was like in real life!

Great write up and pics gumboot, shame we missed this one but definitely keen to get out there.

On the flipside, we did have a bit of a poke around Barrington and Gloucester Tops, no 4wding as such but some amazing roads and stunning scenery.

With some notice, we are definitely keen for a Sunday run next month.

Looks like it was a great day. Thanks for write up. Wished I seen this earlier as we spent the weekend camping and 4wd at Landcruiser Park. Would have been great to be in a group.

ive camped at gordon country before, pretty beautiful spot. the tracks are good there but nothing too great so have to camp there again and do a day trip to Janowen for sure! looks like fun.

Next week the family and I will be heading off to Gordon Country for a few days camping, first time as a family and the kids can't wait and so very excited. We have a number of friends Joining us either camping or taking cabins.

If anyone is down that way drop in and say hello.

We will be camping at Bullhole South hopeful next to the river if I can get a spot. You shouldn't miss my Silver 120 although we do intend to tackle the tracks at Gordon Country again and also Janowen Park.

Harry, the kids will have a cracking time in the creek and it is a lot warmer than a few months ago. Take plenty of torches for them at night, I take glo sticks to keep my kids amused at night which they love.

And if you're having a fire (what camping adventure with the kids isn't complete without one?) drop into Anaconda and pick up some sachets of this stuff http://www.anaconda.com.au/Product/C...#90034082Throw the bag (inside the packet) in the middle of the fire, and you'll get a couple of hours of different coloured flame. We took a bag to try to Janowen last time and the 1 bag lasted a good couple of hours. Throw a couple for more effect. Ananconda usually have them on the counter at checkout.

Great Ideas Guys anything to keep the little ones amused. Will try to get both before we leave.
