Rawson is the old construction township for the Thomson Dam (1970's-80's). It was known as Robertson in those days after the then Engineer in Chief of the MMBW. When construction finished, it was sold off and it was renamed after the grandfather of the owner of the farm that it was built on at Rawson's Corner (Place names authority won't allow naming after a living person). It is north of Moe, just a few clicks from Walhalla in God's country. Beautiful place, with lots of great scenery.

Looks like there will finally be a Victorian trip to the pyrenees on the 8th of November . I will be heading down there on the saturday morning and camping the night.
Member Slug will be staying the friday night and said he will catch up with the Exploroz group to see what tracks they are doing as they are having a gathering in the same area - this should give a few tips on good tracks/camp spots etc.
If anyone else is thinking of heading over give us a yell and we can organize a designated meeting point either in the Pyrenees or at Avoca.
I have not been 4wding in this area so it will be good to see some new country
Sorry about the short notice but if we don't do it now it will never happen, it will be great to finally meet a few fellow Pradopointers.
It's going to be a busy weekend up there as I am going with the Ballarat 4WD Club to Avoca and the Pyrenees as well. So if you see a white Prado with a Custom Boat Loader roof rack, say hello.
It's a popular place with lots of great tracks, but there will be a lot of traffic up there, so take care!!!!

Well, we are getting close now! Does anyone have any preference for a meeting time? I should be reasonably close so I don’t mind. Avoca is a fairly easy place for all directions to get to id say and seems to be the meeting point for anyone heading up that way.
For those who don’t know it, there is a set of toilets and information shelter in the middle of the main drag in town, with some car parks. This is probably as easy a place as any to meet. As far as essentials go, there are a couple of excellent pie shops, (most people have a strong preference for one or the other) in town, a servo and im pretty sure a little shop somewhere too.
Any queries let me know, but im no expert in the area!

I will be meeting Slug at the Info centre in the middle of Avoca at 10am. After grabbing a bit of smoko we will then be heading out the hills to get amongst it.
We will stick around for a bit and see if anybody else shows up - I hope there is more than just the 2 of us but it will still be a Vic gathering and I plan on having fun either way.
So the question is - who else is going to be there on the day???
Sorry all but I wont be making it this weekend. I've gotta go out car hunting with the other half as his POS is gonna die on us any day now, and I dont think fitting this trip and car shopping into the same day is going to work well as I just looked on Whereis.com and realised that Avoca is 260kms from my house!!
Hopefully the next trip is somewhere a bit closer..... I am thinking Narbethong would be the way to go as that place has plenty of tracks and its lots of fun.
