Still refining the trip plan - not sure whether to go via the GCR on the way over or the way back. The extra 6 days at the end means we can take a bit more time on the home leg, and thinking GCR on the way home (my only worry is it will be getting hot there by the end of October).

Definately not going north of Perth this trip - too much to take in on the southern part of WA, so that will be our focus area.

Getting the Ayre Peninsula in is a real bonus too.

The plan as it now stands is to visit AJ120 and collect my sliders, heading to do a couple of nights at Coffin Bay (Ayre Peninsula near Port Lincoln) for some sand fun, then across the Nullabor, turn off at Balladonia down Parmango Road and arrive at Lucky Bay for a few days, before making our way along the coast and eventually up to Perth, then Mandurah for a week in timeshare luxury, and then head home, via the GCR and Uluru, Coober Pedy, Adelaide, Great Ocean Road, and back on the boat.

6 weeks is going to fly. Only 4.5 more days of work, and to say I am excited is an understatement!

Best of luck Smithy, sounds like an awesome trip and for the whole family to be doing it is great. Look forward to all the pics (maybe videos ??) when you return. My wife's not big on camping (hence the van for the high country gtg) but she did mention the Kimberly's the other night ?? Anyway have an awesome time and a safe trip...... Cheers Steve

Thanks Steve. Not sure how my wife is going to be on camping after this trip - most we have ever been away for with the tent has been 3 nights up til now, so gonna test us all out I reckon.

Might graduate to a camper later on, but want to start off basic, as I think it's important for the kids to get this sort of experience. Also means I can tow a boat if we use the tent, although the boat won't be coming on this trip.

I'll try to give updates as we get in range, but the piccies will likely have to wait until we get home, as I haven't worked out how to put photos up with my phone.

              Thanks Palmer, you're not wrong!

Got today off work to get packing. Tomorrow is going to be nice and casual, will watch the Hawks win another Premiership, and head to the boat. Can't wait to hit the road.

All loaded up and ready to go.

Certainly putting the upgraded suspension under a bit of strain.

I'm sure we can work something out...

Maybe we should camp on your lawn.

That's just what's on the Prado, you should see what's in it! Not much room to move...

Enjoy your time and you can always unload those "need to have items" if you find you don't need them.

Have fun and look forward to hearing about the trip on your return.
